I am a candidate from Sri Lanka who faced IELTS academics last time. I had nearly 3 weeks only for proper preparation (yet excluding weekends) and achieved an overall 8 (Reading 8.5, Listening 8, Speaking 7, and writing 7.5). Here are my tips and hope this might be useful to someone. I had no time to find a personal tutor but I did all tests in the last four Cambridge books. IELTS Writing Task 2 Samples by Rachel Mitchell was another useful book I referred to apart from Cambridge. The biggest guide was youtube channels and I watched a few selected channels (about 5) for each component. In my first week, my listening marks were started around 26, but my daily practice brought it up to an average of 30 in the next week and around 36 by the last week prior exam. In my opinion, it is not just the language only, you need good practice to achieve higher band. Practice daily, you will reach your goal. Your videos were extremely helpful especially in writings. Thank you very much for sharing generously your tips, this channel was really helpful.

Your videos are quite well-done, clear and helpful. Just one suggestion: at about the three minute mark you talk about the collocation “reap a benefit.” Tricky word! You pronounced it “RE-ap, ” but instead is pronounced “reep.” Thanks, I’ve certainly reaped a benefit by watching your videos!

Hi Guys .. I have a question
When writing and you are given four points to write about in the paragraph

✓✓ Like Art, Medicine, Management, Engineering and Education
Is it advisable to say science- related courses therefore bringing medicine and engineering together or writing on all four of them differently?

✓✓ Another one is Housing, Food/Clothes, Vacation/Leisure, and Miscellaneous.
Now, as we all know housing, Food/Clothes are fundamental needs of a person .
Is it advisable to bring it into one content
Instead of saying housing, Food/Clothes we just say the fundamental needs when writing the essay?
