I take an unnecessarily long trip between two stations that share a name and are a stone's throw of each other.

When I clicked on this I thought it was going to be a video about tranferring via walking between those two stations, but instead it's even better by only transferring via transit modes.

Such a banger!

If someone needs to travel between the 2 stations, samTrans has 2 separate bus routes that serve both. The EPX & 142. They both travel on Huntington Ave, a 2-3 minute bus ride!

I think that the M Balboa Park drop off is so bad is because it is not at all a priority to muni. Nobody takes the M to balboa park, as BART, J and K are all faster. The J, K and BART are the ones that people take to balboa park, so they have a real centralized station. The M just kind of goes there and does its own thing because it takes the long way. Great video!

Walking from Caltrain > Airtrain would take 20 minutes - even more with luggage. And it’s over a highway… Not a good experience. Much rather take a bus, or BART transfer, quicker and less hassle.

You should’ve done Caltrain to san jose then ace to Stockton then San Joaquin service to Sacramento then capital corridor to Berkeley then the Berkeley ferry to embarcadero then the streetcar to Castro then the muni metro to balboa park then Bart to san Bruno

Great video! Next level challenge: Can you do the same effective journey but go all the way around the Bay?

Balboa Park used to have a better location for the J and K lines, that dropped you off right by the faregates, but they eliminated that platform and now they just pass through to the new side platform they built. With a better reconstruction they could have built better platforms but I guess the distant side platform was cheaper. Meanwhile the M and J lines should just be a full loop from downtown to downtown instead of the truncated M turnaround across the intersection.

BART to SFO was a bad design, they could have put the station as a level in the central parking garage putting it centrally located with moving walkways to all four terminals, but I guess that would have meant giving up an entire level of their super-high-priced elite parking spots.

And yeah it's dumb that the San Bruno BART isn't in the same location as the San Bruno Caltrain, considering they're right on top of each other, and Airtrain should go to Millbrae at least -- it would have been trivial to use that expensive BART overpass for Airtrain instead.

A lost opportunity for the people of the Bay Area to not locate these closer. A shame on all the planners and city govts for missing this.

Honestly, I am surprised that you did not go the other way to milbrae, or all the way around the bay via VTA from caltrain to bart
