Sky News contributor Kel Richards breaks down the ongoing dispute between China and Taiwan.

“China has never, militarily, been stronger than it has right now,” Mr Richards said.

“And we keep hearing this might be the year that finally Xi Jinping fulfils the promise he’s been making to his people for years now; that he will take back Taiwan.”

No offense to Australia and Australians but I will bet this Australian lady $1, 000 or whatever amount she wants that Australia will never be able to make what TSMC can in whatever timeframe she wants

I'm sorry, Evelyn, you are so out of your depth in this conversation. You can't just say to the US, "we've decided the treaty we signed doesn't matter any more." If our alliance with US is broken, what do you think china would do? Stop talking about things you obviously don't understand.

although I agree with her, War is bad but I also live in reality. she don't. Whoever said after WW2 that it was the war to end all wars, has never read the Bible. Its literally unfolding now.

Why doesn’t Australia set up diplomatic tie with Taiwan then 🤔, it’s the best way to support Taiwan. Go ahead do it, Australia.

Both the U.S. and Australia need to increase defense spending to 4.5% to 5% of GDP to deter China's war calculations.

"Well maybe we need to re-assess our treaties." WTF, that's not how treaties work lol. A country doesn't commit to a treaty just for the sake of committing to that treaty, and then abandon it the moment the treaty gets activated. If countries abandon the treaties, then what's the point of having those treaties in the first place? To just bluff our cards?

If the USA is involved militarily, with China, then yes Australia among other countries MUST BE INVOLVED.

Australia doesn't have diplomatic relation with Taiwan.

The issue here no-one is thinking about is Japan. Japan has said if China attacks Taiwan - it will come to Taiwan's aid - militarily. And the U.S. is a Japanese ally. Whilst China might think - Taiwan is not a strong U.S. ally. Japan is.

And Japan is the key here.

You may not want to concern yourself with war, but war may be concerned with you. It is better to be so prepared for a war in the region that it does not happen than to be so under prepared that it happens.
