A Hitchhiker's Guide to Early Access: The Slormancer

The Slormancer is an arpg with a silly tone, but serious depth. Its got a nice 2D art style and in its current early access state, the first act is available, along with the first part of the Expeditions content, an infinite dungeon mode. The biggest draw here is the build variety, every skill has a skill tree of its own, so there are loads of options in regards to building your character, and the Slorm Reaper system is a cool twist on normal weapon drops. The Ancestral Legacy system is also a cool addition to build variety, adding a Sphere Grid-like upgrade path. Should be interesting to see this develop into a full experience.

This could have been a really nice video; I wish you would have shown the respective elements of the game/UI in action at the moment of talking about them, for example the skill system (3:23) or the slorm-reapers (7:55). Seeing gameplay at this moment is not really helpful. You managed to do it with the blacksmith (6:55)!

The whole skill system reminds me a lot of Last Epoch's approach, which imo has the best balance between casual friendly (D3) and hardcore depth (PoE) in this genre so far. So thats great, but my biggest problem with this early stage of early access comes with the enemy design. Standardized melee and ranged skeletons are so boring and lame to fight with. I know they want to add at least 5 enemy types with each big content patch, I just hope that these have some interesting mechanics and more unique visuals than those free 08/15-assets from Unity. Really looking forward how it turns out. I love the genre and I'm hoping to reduce the waiting time for PoE 2 with this one, when the EA has a little bit more content in the near future!
