All costs as of March 2023 at a Rewe in Munich, Germany. If you’re curious about the costs of something abroad, turn on a VPN and use the Google shopping feature 💚

This is hundreds in the US. And it's more expensive every time we go shopping. I cannot describe the stress and panic I have getting groceries. Prices go up nearly every week now.
Edit: I live in a "lower cost of living " area and this haul would easily be $200 if not more. Produce is so expensive.
Also, eggs are $7 a dozen where I live but some areas have way higher prices on eggs getting up to $13. It wouldn't surprise me if eggs got higher than that. And prices have been going up every couple weeks for the last few years and it is NOT stopping.

And let's not forget that the price doesn't goes up when you pay... Tax included, so it's easy to control your budget! And the freshness... 😊

I am Austrian, stuff is not as cheap here maybe 20% more, Germany is kind of our Mexico. But I am always surprised that Americans complain about grocery costs. Isn't the US the super efficient agriculture country, giant corn fields, free hormones with your beef and the cleanest chicken in the world. How is European food cheaper with less poison and smaller farms, I don't get it.

This is als hundreds in Germany. She just made a very good deal. Usually you pay for a weekly grocery for two people between 70 -90€ without high expectations. It also depends what she had to buy and what not.

Compared to Spain, you still pay a lot. For that amount I've got a lot more to show for. On the other hand, compared to the Netherlands, buying your groceries in Germany is like being in heaven 😉

I will say, some products in Germany shouldn't be as cheap as they are. Cow's milk, for example. Traditional farmers barely get anything out of it which leads to many of them struggling. Meat, also ridiculously cheap. I think its good that groceries are affordable but from a sustainability's (and health's) perspective it makes more sense to cut the subsidising for those products and make fruits, vegetables, whole grains etc. more (financially) accessible. Still enjoyed the video though 😊💜

That would have been at least 5 times as expenisve here.... Girl kiss your husband and tell him he is amazing for convincing you to move.

Costs for food are out of control now. I found an old receipt from 2019 and decided to compare to prices last week by buying exactly the same stuff- same brands, same sizes, same weights at exactly the same store. Original receipt=$102.03, last week=$317.49 that's 3x more than 2019!!!

Might be cheaper in Netto or Penny 😂 joking aside, this is one of the biggest cultural shocks I had when I moved from the US to Germany: fresh vegetables! As a student I could afford real and nutritious food, my life changed dramatically

KY, USA (prices for the closest store to my home)
- gallon of Milk : $1.59
- 12 eggs : $1.99
- 1lb ground beef : $5.49
- 3lbs oranges : $4.49
- lettuce head: $1.79
- 8oz mushrooms : $2.09

Bakery prices vary, and all items are store brand - I’ve seen these prices in other states/cities 3x and 5x more easily. One of the reasons I’d hate to move to a different area is the cost of living increase by moving as little as 2 hours away.

me and my bf were just on vacation there last week and we stepped into the train station Aldi in like Liepzig I think? (I don't quite remember which one lmao) and the prices were??? impeccable? in the US if we had train station malls/grocery we'd likely have huge markups. As it is I live in Hawaii so the prices were like 80% cheaper to what I'm used to! 😢

In the USA $105 gets me about 2 bags of groceries; don't even need a cart.

As a german I think it is crazy how much prices have raised because of the russian war. Nevertheless, I was shocked about the prices in the US when I was reading the comments.

To be honest, the prices are still high. We are a family of 6 living in Stuttgart, and we pay now, like 200€ for our biweekly shopping. While a while back, we often paid about 100€. Even though now we really cut down on unnecessary things like sweets, meat, or cheese.
