That's why I drill small holes in my battery, for airflow.

If you have an Android, you can enable 'Protect Battery'. This automatically stops charging at 85%
Edit: That's not adaptive charging

As well as capping the max charge on the battery, some phones will also slow charge overnight so that the battery doesn't sit at 100% or whatever for long. For example, I have an alarm set for 5.30am on my Google Pixel 6 so when I place it on my wireless charger at bedtime, it adjusts the charging rate so that it reaches 100% just before 5.30am. If I charge it during the day, it uses the normal fast charging rate.

My pixel 7a actually slows down charging. It will make sure to be at %100 just before my alarm goes off in the morning.

Samsung has a built-in feature that stops charging your phone at 85%
I charge overnight with a 2.5w charger, and so far, I had no battery capacity drop

If the battery catches fire, it stops charging. All phones have this built-in feature.

Motorola does this by keeping it till 80 percent and charging to full before your morning alarm rings. Or studying daily routine when you turn on the phone in morning.

Pixel 7's adaptive charging on that cool little stand: 💯 No more, no less! (Only wish it worked in "landscape"/horizontal too!) 😎✌️

Sony phones have featured learning your wake schedule by timing a full charge right before you wake for at least a decade now

iPhones have that functionality built in… It’ll figure out your usual charging times and stop charging at 80% only to charge those extra 20% at the end of the charge, sometimes it’ll be a little under 100 if you stop charging sooner then it expected… Mine did for instance when I had to wake up early for a flight…

0:38 that app doesn't stop the charging of the iPhone, but stops the charging cable. You need to order their charger in order to do that. It says that in the description

And iOS & macOS settings can do that properly & Aldente on macOS.

As someone who has tested dozens and dozens of batteries for this exact effect, the difference is negligible.
Just charge the damn thing to 100% and stop worrying about the extra few minutes you'll get out of the battery near the end of its life by nursing it.

Why does no one talk about charging current? I specifically use an old 1A charger (I used to have an 850mA but it died), and only use a 2A or the included _fancy_ fast charger unless I absolutely need it. Not once have I ever woken up and not had the battery at 100%, and the lower current puts much less strain on the battery. This is only my experience of course, but I've done this with my current phone since I bought it, more than 3 years ago, and the battery still works perfectly. I would love to see the capacity loss with various charging currents over the years actually be scientifically tested, though.

fun fact: samsung has an option to stop the charge at 85%, that option used to stop the battery at 85% but showing 100% basically reducing the capacity but now theyjust show 85% with a message saying that charging stopped to preserve battery life

Admittedly it was a few years ago that I bought the Chargie USB devices to use with the app you showed, but I bought 3 of them and all of them broke within 2 months. Terrible quality.
It won't stop charging automatically, but the app "Battery Alert 40-80" will notify you when your battery is too low or charged to the desired amount.

I have seen a lot of ppl recommend having it between 20-80 percent to add a year or 2 to the battery's lifespan. But by limiting yourself to only 60% of the battery size, you are actually better off to use the full battery because it's not gonna damage it to the point where it actually shrinks to 60%, at least it's not gonna happen that fast

okey.
