*The short answer: The blocks shown do not act as an **_inclined plane._* More broadly, even on an _inclined plane, _ acceleration will only occur if there is no equal and opposite force acting on the cart, such as a rope tethering it in place, brakes preventing wheel movement, etc.

But if you take it apart and had a brick across two cylinders with nothing connecting them, it will roll downhill again. Framework is everything.

Dear me, I always knew my physics sense was good but apparently it’s even better than our physics guru here - who has just made a bit of a boo boo. In fact, the propped up cart does slide. Just test it using a book and two marker pens and you’ll see. What my esteemed colleague has not taken into account is that, due to the incline of the flat object, the downward force is administered, not to the centre but rather ti the side of each wheel causing the wheels to auto-rotate and for the object to slide down.. other than that, keep up the good work!

Great job! Basics are very important. This and the question video are good examples: you may know (this case: you should know) the answer but how to explain it? And the main trick: how to explain it SIMPLY?

I totally understand and get how this makes sense but intuitively I feel like the angle at which the cart is propped up, regardless off the slope of the surface it’s sitting on, will cause more weight to be dragging towards one side of the wheels thus making the whole cart fall in that direction until something brings it back to equilibrium. Can’t tell if I’m on to something or I’m just confused, I suppose I could test it for myself but I’m far too lazy hopefully someone comes by with an answer

It would want to accelerate slightly propped up ad there is more mass infront of the front wheel and less behind the back wheel so gravity is slightly pushing/pulling it. But very little that friction cancels it out

College failed me, and the worst part is that I have a degree in mechanical engineering 😭. Thankyou

Are you kidding me is this what the world is coming to the education system seriously what am I looking at it in the wrong way and he's just trying to make a joke and I'm taking it literally LOL maybe that's what it is he's just joking I get it now so I
