Learn how to build stronger Amazon account security with this simple passkey tutorial. Creating either a syncable passkey or a single device passkey look fairly similar no matter which account you're securing, so the process should be the same. It's good to start somewhere, though, so why not Amazon!

Do you recommend removing the 2FA feature while using Passkeys to log in?
Thank you.

Question: Why is this more secure, if the passwort works too? More secure would mean, that the passwort login option would be disabled, when using passkeys, or am i wrong?

I guess I will wait for passkey video...trying to figure out difference between using passkey versus a password manager program.

I don't really understand what passkeys are...and having a four number pin tells me that they may not be secure as people think. Now that I have finally set up 1Password I wonder whether I should learn to use passkeys at all. I look forward to your future post on this subject.

I am a new subscriber and wanted to ask if there is a good, secure fingerprint scanner for Windows. Could you recommend a model? Preferably something affordable, as it's hard for students. Thank you!

After setting up a passkey, should you remove OTP as it allows sending the code to the phone number as a backup method?

Personally i havent adopted passkeys into my personal account security i think i agree with what you said in one of your videos think that having a strong password and a physical security key is enough at least for now. I mean i guess for accounts like amazon that dont allow for a yubikey then i can see it being an option

At 3:00 you state "Frankly, I don't want to use my iCloud."
Why is that?

Far too much work for me to want to use this.

Perhaps I am missing something here, but the idea of a passkey is to make things more secure....but if you still have your password and 2FA having a passkey is not making it more secure. Probably just quicker to login.

I just setup my Amazon Retail consumer account using the Passkey option with a primary and backup Yubikey 5 NFC and also setup 2FA using the Yubico-Authenticator. I noticed that the same thing happened to me as it did to you in that even though the Passkey was accepted, Amazon also made you provide a 2FA code as well and enter it. I personally setup the 2FA as a backup option, but Amazon seems to think that it's mandatory unless you click the box that comes up where it says "don't require OTP on this browser in the future" which I did not do. Having the site use Passkeys AND also require a 2FA Code seems really redundant to me. I setup the 2FA so that things like my Amazon FireTV Fire Sticks could login as there is not a way to use a Passkey with those devices, but you CAN use 2FA with them.

I discovered that they way they have you do it is to attempt to sign in with your normal login and password which will fail the first time. When you login the second time, they say to enter your login name as normal, but when you enter your password, do so normally, then simply generate a 2FA code on the Yubico-Authenticator on your phone or PC and APPEND the 6 digit number to the end of your normal password, then click enter to login as you normally would. That should allow the login to happen successfully.

Anyway, I just thought it was odd for them to require a Passkey AND I hope the 2FA login tip for Amazon Devices that may not natively take 2FA Hardware Keys can be setup to accept these codes generated in this fashion. Might be a good Video idea for you to share with your audience.

Thanks again for your well done videos.

Can it be set up so that the only way to access the account is by using a physical yubico/titan key? No password managers, no OTP etc?

Yeah, it’s cool they added the ability for passkeys. But still need 2FA at this time..
