They've had this issue before. They tried to fix it by making kills more important than placement. Then they buffed the scan meta to stop it. But now they've made it more rewarding to rat. I think placement and kills need to be more equal. And maybe if you do no damage you shouldn't get full ladder points for the match.

I don't know how people climbed so quickly. I win with +10 kills and barely get 400LP
While some people by just ratting earn +700

I'm finding playing ranked solo is getting pretty toxic with teammates disagreeing about tactics. Like how hot to drop, taking fights or running, respawning or ratting. Always an issue, but this system is making it much worse. People just can't agree on how to play the game.

I always report this as inactive during game, it is very frustrating as it happens quite often and you don’t get any compensation like you normally do when you aren’t given a third teammate due to a matchmaking issue

It's almost like an intentional over correction. They stated that they wanted emphasis to shift from kills to placement. How do you get the community, en mass, to change their priority when so many have played W keying every shot for so long? You over reward placement, to an extreme, and everyone will quickly shift priority. While a lot are ultra-ratting it is, relatively, a small fraction (if not a fraction of a fraction) of the player base; it won't take much tweaking to placement value to de-incentives this kind of play, and it's a brand new system.. zero chance they weren't already planning on tweaking it anyways, they'll likely be using the data from this season to decide on what exactly they'll tweak and how/how-much

I remember playing ranked and met an enemy Loba that also lost the entire team so we decided to team up but we still ended up dying.

I would add a Ladderpoint decay, that gets bigger, the higher your rank is, which requres more play time to maintain a high rank.

Ratting used to be a way to mitigate losses when your teammates got killed but in their infinite wisdom, Respawn made it the preferred playstyle

They need to change it where if you don’t get any kills or certain amount of damage in a game you don’t get a bunch of LP. For example if they come in 5th place and die with 0 kills 0 damage, you get punished hard for it like 15LP to encourage them to at least try and kill something or shoot something

I will confess, I kinda rat a lot these days. I do it because it's just that more effective and enjoable. It's not because I'm afraid of combat, even when ratting heavily you have a skirmish in the beginning and at the end of a match (avg damage done per game is about 700-800). However, if I try to follow my teammates it's usually a super short game of 3-4 min cuz we all die. I want to have fights, but these braindead hotdroppers just go in and turn cold in a matter of minutes. This way i'd spend more time looking at a loading screen. Guess you can solve this issue by having friends playing Apex, but I don't. So ratting it is for now.

The placement change is nice they just need to add the entry cost scaling along with mkre points for getting kills.

One way you can fix the issue is if the play is inactive for more than 1:00 the get kick from the game or receive a warning

I've had at least one guy per day just separating from the team, going to a rat spot and just hiding there. The very last one tonight was a Crypto, 25k LP "Master".

Honestly here is what I think they should do (speaking as a fan/player, not someone who makes games or has a clue what he’s talking about)

But

I like the ranked system we have I think the change that needs to happen is the same way they give you LP for skill and participation in a match. I think there should be a system that will have lose points if you sit and rat all game. So let’s say you make top 3 but you have no damage/no kills/no participation points then you would lose a significant amount of LP that you had from making it to the top 3. Would never put you negative but instead of gaining 125 points would only gain 10 LP because you ratted.

Or what I think they should do is implement a Rat Penalty

If they could clock how long a player sat in one spot on the map and then penalize the player for it the longer they stayed stationary in one spot. Or if you sit in the same spot for two long the game does the “out of bounds” timer and forces you to move.

I think there are a multitude of ways to break this problem down. These are just some I came up with

I play in the eu server and the only things i've saw it's the changing behavior of the teams, in the final zones there are more teams and the position and what you do matter. The system is good, but they need to balance it.
