Checking in after 3 Months on the Picket Line #mentalhealthmatters

I wanted to check in with everybody on my experience, walking the picket line after being away from work for over three months now. I was anticipating the strike would last until about the first of the year so longer than I had anticipated. I will say that I'm prepared to go the full duration.

Not all of my colleagues have been able to hold up as well as others. It's disheartening when you realize that your employer is basically a corporation and puts profit over patient care. I have always felt the respect of my immediate supervisors, but in the last couple years, we have felt a large influence from the corporate side of the hospital in dictating what we do and how we do it. I'm looking toward retirement in a couple years, but I think change needs to be made now to reverse the trend from the direction it's been heading. I care about the people I work with otherwise I wouldn't be in this profession.

I have ridden my bicycle to the Pickett line at the Downey hospital and the Anaheim hospital. Today I took the train up to Los Angeles Medical Center and I rode my bike 26 miles home. I feel like I completed another goal.

I want to thank you to all of my YouTube followers! I appreciate your support.

Sounds like you’re practicing good mental health. Thanks for the reminder. I, too, have fallen behind on projects; in my case allowing truly little things to distract me and using them as excuses. Time to get back to feeling good and taking care of business and myself!! Good luck to you!! 😊
