I'm 26 and I've only come out to one person, and not even as a lesbian, but as bisexual, even though I'm not. I used to date men so I'm scared they don´t take me serious, if that makes sense. I also spend a lot of my life living in denial. Hearing you talk about it made me finally feel seen. Thank you for sharing

Bottoms was absolutely hilarious. My future wife and I were in Boston lugging around our suitcases while waiting to check into our Airbnb, and we came across this adorable community theatre. They were showing Bottoms in a tiny room with less than 20-seats, but it was the perfect place to take a quick rest. We laughed so hard, and it completely woke us up from our minor jet lag! Also, happy belated birthday!!

Hey Gerogia, so I'm a straight cis man and while I can't relate to struggles of a coming out journey, I am so happy for you that you found yourself and that you're happy.
Societal "norms" can be super pressuring and stressful, and feels like these "norms" are usually about appearances rather than true individualism, happiness, and just accepting people for who they are.
It's heartwarming hearing about your journey and how much soul searching you did along the way.
Sending the best wishes to you and your fiance :)

On your idea of how other people think of marriage, it reminded me of when I was growing up. I'm trans, so was raised a girl. I would hear the adult women I knew, family and neighbors, talk so much crap about their husbands, but then turn around and try to sell marriage to me like it was inevitable that I would not only marry a man, but men were also something to be put up with and endured. I was just like, guys you're not selling this very well. Also, while I knew I was gay from the age of ten, I didn't come out to my family until I was 24. It took me longer to realize I'm trans. I only came out to myself as trans five years ago when I was 46. Point being, we all come to our truth in different ways and different times. It's not the when or the how that's important, only that we live freely and opening, and with love.

I’m still closeted to most people in my life, including my spouse, so hopefully one day I can work up the courage to go to pride

I identify with your journey so much! I've known I was into women since my early teens, but lived in denial until I was 24 when I met my wife. One of the important reasons we chose to marry is to protect each others rights as well as obviously because we loved one another.

I'm also very femme presenting and into history, queer history and reading! My gayness is also a big part my personality these days.

I love Sugar Rush! Watched it not long after I came out and it really helped me feel ok in my sexuality

Bottoms is hilarious and absurd and I don’t feel like it gets enough hype! 👏

I love the queer community you've built here, Georgia! I found you through your queer content, and I'm so thrilled to be part of this supportive online found family!

Take this for what you will. I like to wake up early, take my meds, and lay down and think until they kick in. Then I keep thinking.

Anywho, I like to listen to something while I do and today your voice came to mind as something very pleasant and soothing and so here I am.

*cheers*

oh wow I'm totally at that point where I'm afraid to say the words to my family but would definitely just confirm if they asked and they don't. and I'm pretty sure at least my parents are very much aware, but I feel like they're waiting for me to say it. but I probably only will if I'm ever in a serious relationship

If you're a football gay you have to read The Senator's Wife series by Jen Lyon. It's a romance trilogy and one of the main characters is a professional football player and it's a huge part of the plot!

All of this resonates so strongly with me. Comp het truly made my journey so much longer as well despite knowing since 11 years old that I didn't have feelings for boys. I'm 26 years old and relate to your experience of feeling off about talking about relationships with family. Regardless of sexuality I feel like it's so awkward to talk about liking someone hahah thank you for your vulnerability on the topic and happy pride month 🌈

You're right, Georgia! It's easy to be inclusive. I'm impressed that you're looking for all inclusive people to work with and forthright.

I'm 25 too & I've only just came to terms with being a lesbian. I did identify as bisexual for years but it never felt right but i also convinced myself i was bi because i find Mark Owen gorgeous 😂 (he really is). My girlfriend is bisexual & i felt i was betraying her weirdly, im not sure why but im proud ive came to terms with being lesbian.
