-#Fairfield CT--Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Tracy of the Fairfield Fire Department took time out his busy schedule to tell us how a drone assisted them in fighting the lumberyard fire Wednesday. Bridgeport Firefighter Keith Muratori (Rescue 5) has assisted firefighters in Bridgeport and neighboring towns with his drone to give firefighters a real time assessment of a fire's progress from above. In this instance the quonset hut style warehouses were abandoned and firefighters only attempted an exterior attack so as not to risk their well being. The aerial footage provided incident commander and firefighters in real time where hot spots were, if their streams were being effective or if they resources should be directed elsewhere. The footage Keith took were amazing.

A wonderful use of drones for information during a fire. It should be used all the time! Keep up the good work.

So why don't your Fire Services just employ their own drones like they do elsewhere

At 1:22 I hope he realized that both those streams of water were accomplishing nothing and that it went on for a long time.  At 2:06 one of those lines was moved to this location and it was there for a long time.  Doing nothing constructive. 2:40  Still pumping water where it isn't needed.  3:10  Lots of fire and no water.  It's being put where the fire is already out. 3:33  The only place there is a building threatened by this fire is in the upper left.  The main body of fire is in the upper left corner right next to that building.  That fire should have been put out first not last. 3:57  Notice neither water lines are putting water where it is most needed. ON The Fire!  4:20  I can't believe he can keep talking with a straight face as he watches this deplorable fire fighting.  5:15  Still putting water where it's not needed.  He's Talking The Talk while his FFers are Not Walking The Talk.  This is typical throughout the country!!!  Yes, I do know what I'm talking about!  I'd love to have a debate with any experienced FFer regarding my comments.  Intelligent and constructive comments.  Not just telling me I wasn't there or I don't know what I'm talking about.  Try to defend what this video showed.

I see a boring talking head, show the video he is talking about. He talks about the pieces being placed, but no talk about the streams.

As drones become more as a tool the communications between the drone video and the fireman handling the fires house will start to take shape.
This would be a great tool in fire training.
Texas A&M "Learn to Burn" school" could put this into their fire training school.

More of the drone footage and less face-time with  the chief.

helio pilot myself fought over 8 wild land fires Not impressed all it did was send a birds eye view which you can get just from extending the ladder up higher.
