Why indian Films Are Not Winning Oscars?

Cinema, films or movies is the most influential industry in India. When we go back to history the 1st feature film was made in the year 1913 which was Raja Harishchandra a silent film in Marathi.

The female characters in the film were played by male actors. Having such bold history of making films in India, but today people have one question What exactly is wrong with Indian films, why they are not able to win oscar, so we thought to answer the next interesting question, you are watching UniWhy and in this episode let’s explore Why indian Films Are Not Winning Oscars.

As soon as we start studying or start doing some research why Indian films are not able to win oscars, we start seeing the opinions of those who say, why we should give such importance to Oscar so much, is it that important and all.

But reality stands still. In any industry we consider there are some organisations who recognise the art and creativity and effort and they are being awarded for the same and in this case it is Oscar. So now let’s see what exactly is making us not to win oscars.
Before moving further Let us ask one question ourselves,

Why when India has a population of 1.35 Billion persons does it win less medals in Truly Global Events like OLYMPICS than countries like Ecuador, Venezuela, Japan or even Ukraine or Czech Republic?

So in the same way it revolves around this question of Indian films winning oscars. Now there are different theories and versions that many people have:

The FIrst common Misconception is INDIAN FILMS ARE ORIENTED TOWARDS MASALA FORMAT

This is not correct. Every film Industry except French perhaps are almost always oriented to the MASALA FORMAT. It makes money. 80% of US Films are Masala Films (Olympus has fallen, White House Down,) or Sci - Fi Films.

Like India - US too has a huge market for Masala Films (They call them Action or Sci Fi) who dont go within 1 mile of an Oscar Award Ceremony. Both US and India also make good films that are awards worthy.

Then what are the reasons that indian movies do not end up getting Oscar.

Unpopular opinion: Indians shouldn't be submitting films for Oscars at all. It's extremely unfair that only one movie is allowed to be submitted. The committee who chooses a movie each year is inevitably going to pick the "wrong" one more often than not, because it's extremely difficult to pick only one movie to represent an entire industry. If the Oscars committee truly wants the best international films to get awards and recognition, then they should create a way to watch a multitude of international films before making their decision.

The fact that Indians even submit a movie every year shows that their inferior complex and need for validation from the western world is alive and thriving. The fact that a whole committee even exists, to pick a movie for the Oscars each year, just baffles me.

If Filmfare suddenly started asking Hollywood for a submission each year for their 'International category', the idea would be laughable (on both sides). So why is the reverse okay? In that scenario, Hollywood would probably just ignore the request and send zero movies. Doesn't anybody think this whole system of allowing only one movie to be submitted per year is strange?

Yes songs distract story or screenplay. Musical songs and dances absolutely deviates our concentration on movie in the end one may find whats so great about the movie or the feel of "thats it". Imagine parasite have songs in it couldn't made an Oscar sure .why not they can have too.because koreans celebrate dance through kpop and produce vast kdrama songs equally compared to indian movie's songs.
