Yep, Ft .Jackson had the low walls and a lower pit around it, so if you dropped the grenade in the pit, you could dive below the pit and below the blast of the grenade. The ol Black Boot Army ...VICTORY STARTS HERE

I went to Ft. Benning for basic training. The second that grenade flew out our hand we ducked. I'm not dogging that soldier for what appears to be him trying to look at the grenade. We all did. After we threw our grenades we were allowed to go behind this wall with thick glass and watch the next groups grenades go off. It was pretty cool. Miss my Army days.
