Julapa Jagtiani is a senior special advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. She joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia as a Special Advisor in the Supervision, Regulation,
and Credit Department in 2008. In this role, she has conducted research and participated in several supervisory policy and implementation projects. Previously, Jagtiani was a senior economist at the Chicago Fed and Kansas City Fed. Before joining the Federal Reserve System, she was an associate professor in the Finance Department at Baruch College, the City University of New York, and an assistant professor at Syracuse University. She has published articles in top finance journals, including the Journal of Financial Economics; the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking; and the Journal of Banking and Finance. Julapa has recently written research articles related the various Fintech issues, organized Fintech conferences, and served as a Fintech subject-matter expert at the Philadelphia Fed. Outside the Federal Reserve System, Jagtiani is on the board of the American Red Cross. She was a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship recipient. Julapa has a PhD in Finance and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business. She is also a fellow member of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Financial Institutions Center.

The third annual VU Women in Tech Conference took place Saturday, January 27, 2018, featuring a robust line-up of speakers addressing disruptive technologies impacting the financial industry. These technologies - analytics, machine learning, and blockchain are not unique to finance and the conference addresses their applications to healthcare, biology, and marketing.
