I talk about how bitcoin also went to an all time high. I talk about why gold price is up and what could drive gold price higher. Gold price is affected by the dollar and if the dollar gets weakened because of the FED cutting rates then this could drive gold price much higher. Why is gold up today? My opinion: Costco started carrying gold bullion in September 2023. The Guardian newspaper of December 15, 2023, reported that, "Costco sells $100m in gold bars in most recent quarter." Once Costco and Walmart started carrying bullion, precious metal stacking received the benefits of their mass marketing, buyers got easier accessibility to bullion, and stacking itself got quite a lot of media attention. I think this rise in gold and silver prices since then is independent of Fed rates, the price of the dollar, or Bitcoin. I think that the promotions done by those companies found an untapped market and this market's interest has reached a tipping point that is driving gold and silver bullion prices up.
