Against the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing bloody invasion of Ukraine, Russia’s annual Victory Day parade took place on May 9, 2022. In his Victory Day speech, Russian President Vladimir Putin framed his military invasion of Ukraine as a necessary response to Nato’s policy on Russia’s borders. "The danger was rising by the day," he said, calling the Russian invasion "forced, timely and the only correct decision." But contrary to expectations, the Russian leader did not signal an escalation of the conflict. During the parade marking the Soviet Union’s 1945 victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, Putin repeated his description of Ukrainian forces as “Nazis.” For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rebuked Putin’s speech while the US responded by calling Russia’s characterisation of the war as “patently absurd”. Ukraine marked Victory Day by staging its own parade of Russian tanks captured during the invasion.

Why US did not mention the same when you began the war in Afghan? In Iraq? Triple standard? Just mind your own business.

Must we watch and listen to the US's responses? Are they officially "The World" now?

Well, it looks like we are no better than the people your grandfathers fought against now Putin. If we truly learned something from our elders from WWII, it would be not to continue the violence and suffering. Sure, y'all can say Ukraine surrendering would achieve that, but I say look no further than the hand pulling the LITERAL trigger (or pushing the button) for the direct cause of death.

Not trying to justify russias actions inside ukraine but i agree with their actions, whilst russia stopped expanding as they agreed when the soviet union was supposed to break down in 6 countries and ended up breaking down into 8 or 12 but nato/america kept expanding closer and closer and didnt stop as they agreed in 1991, and now they even were about to get into ukraine and russia told them multiple times to stop, gave them time, everything... Yet ukraine kept going for nato so in order to protect itself russia invaded ukraine, and it is something anyone would do in this scenario, what they are doing in ukraine is bad but the choice to invade ukraine to defend itself i think is justified enough so cant blame any side and both sides are somewhat in the wrong

Nobody seems to ask why those former Soviet Republics joined NATO in the first place.

All of this could’ve been over if NATO simply says “Hey, wanna join NATO?” to Russia. Russia and Ukraine will then join NATO and there is no threat for Russia and no reason for them to invade Ukraine.
