As a person who works in the film industry, the establishing shot, like the front of a business or house, or airplane is never consistent with the inside. of that structure. Take the Brady Bunch house for example. The establishing shot, which is shown to tell you that the next scene is going to take place inside the house, is a one-story house. When you go inside, it's a two-story house. But they are understood to both establish that the scene is taking place at home.

As someone who manufacturers aerospace paint and coatings for private and commercial planes, this is a cool tidbit of information. I like to know rudimentary things like this when I speak with the customer.

This happens because the insides are mostly done on a sound stage, the exteriors are either done as CG, or stock footage. I’ll keep that in mind next time I work on one of these shots.

My pet peeve is people that don’t know the difference between ‘airplanes’ and ‘aircraft’. Airplanes have propellers… Aircraft have jet engines. Know the industry that you work in people.
