“The Star Chamber” is an ominous connotation and reflection of real history, both past and unfortunately presently resurrected (at least Stateside).
Okay, this house is a lot more sinister than I'd first perceived. Whatever this group has got going on isn't in the interest of any benefit for Necromundan society or humanity at large, and increasingly seems to cover for...something xenos-based. Of course, the Hellraiser-like score GDN's chosen for a Necromundan background only enhances the impression – which is also fitting for aesthetic similarities to Barker's Cenobites. Along with these shiftiest of shades' Dark Tongue.
“The deathless sleeper!? To quote Jack Burton, “oh my God, no, please. What is that? Don't tell me!” What, then, does communing with the dead and dying by the members, Shadows, of this house have to do with a “deathless” entity? What is with their private warp-plane of psychic secrecy and communication? Aliennn!
The Delaques' ambiguous hierarchal structure obtusely unknownable to outsiders seems to be an apparent tactic for obfuscation and misdirection. Deception of their lowliest-classified recruits, while not unique to this planet and this universe, doesn't help pacify perceptions by those not yearning to join the nihilisitic techno-punk Borg of Innsmouth, here. Yeah, Narrator, the aspects of House Delaque sneak past and touch upon several other identifiable influences and themes in pop culture science fiction. And horror. I'm guessing all those walking Shadows altering their appearances slap on wigs, or keep long hoods up. This was definitely an unsettling-fascinating peeling of the layers to these super-creeps, GDN. Thanks very much for that! Fitting with a Halloween kind of unnerving. Whatever lore comes next, I look forward to its ongoing enrichment of Necromunda. 'Til your next record of this bent and twisted place, have a healthy and awesome week...the Emperor protects.
