4449 screamed with all the power of her fallen sisters when she blew that beautiful whistle...

That’s the wildest SP 6-chime ever.

At first it sounds like a regular one but ounce it’s pulled really hard is when it goes insane.

This is satisfying to listen to. Thank you State of Oregon for keeping this beauty of a steam engine alive and well. You really are apart of U.S history, Fan from Ky!

What a wonderful and unique sounding whistle from SP 4449, this whistle type must have been one of 4449's main whistles that it used during the 1980s period as the whistle that SP 4449 has now sounds completely different. I always enjoy seeing older footage of SP 4449 in operation during the 1970s-'80s period, as those were the early years of 4449's excursion service career.

Every time I rewatch this video, I start to reminisce about 4449 back in the 1980’s

SP 4449s original SP six chime which some scumbag stole. She used to have 2 whistles from 1976 till the SP whistle was stolen. The NP Hancrap (Hancock) 3 chime was added because a BN executive was very supportive of the 4449 Project and he loved the NP whistle. Shes carried it ever since. But in SP days she only had the 6 chime and the air horn.

Comment below ⬇️ if anyone thinks that the SP 6 Chime sounds badass on the 4449.

I wonder if 4460 would have this whistle should she be restored. I’ve never seen either of these fabulous GS class northerns in person, but I’d love to one day.
