I picked up my 3.0l Duramax on Tuesday. I took it on a 600 mile trip the last few days and averaged 26.7 MPG. That was mixed driving with some idling and gusty winds. It’s a very impressive drivetrain combination. I went from a 2016 LML Duramax to this for better fuel economy and it definitely delivers.

Can’t wait buy one. I’m just waiting for the new truck problem get fixed. I have worked as A technician for 15 years and all new designed vehicles have problems but I love how they designed the truck. I just wish the EPA would stop restricting the Diesel engines and get rid of the DEF fluid.

I've had my 2020 LT with the 3.0L duramax since October 19th. Just under 5000 miles and I'm still very happy with it. The engine and 10 speed transmission are velvety smooth and offer plenty of power for me and all of my needs. I recognized that it isn't a big diesel, nor a dragster prior purchasing. I had concerns with the only 277 hp until driving it. I quickly found that it has more than enough acceleration throughout all speeds that I travel. My average fuel mileage between tanks is 28.7 and 29.2 (per gas buddy logs) and I found that 50-55mph will get you into the mid 30's (my personal best is 37.6mpg from a 25 mile leg and I suspect that if one could stick to 45mph (which is just holding 10th gear) you'd crush well over 40mpg, but aint nobody got time for that. I'm primarily 70mph down to frequent stop and go traffic on my daily commute through Indy. 2020 Chevrolet Silverado LT, crew cab, 24 gal tank, long box with factory tow mirrors, cloth with heated seats and steering wheel. Add ons include a Bakflip MX4 hard tonneau cover for the 6.5' bed and Maxliner floor mats.

Good review!
I had the opportunity to rent a 2020 Silverado LT 4x4 with a trailer package and a 5.3 gas engine.
I had no idea this is what I would get as it was a rental for the weekend.
I was impressed with the amenities and Apple CarPlay, as well as the 4x4 options as I used the Auto mode on wet roads.
Quite frankly, I didn't mind the Auto Stop/Start as, in town, I often sat stopped at lights for a minute, at times.
Got me thinking if I need a truck for more than a weekend, this would be it!

Everyone has an opinion. Far too many are negative based upon "I heard". My 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 3.0 Duramax is a sweet truck. 20 MPG city, 28.5 MPG highway. I just turned 200 miles. No overheating, not too loud, smooth acceleration, silky 10 speed tranny and she rides better than my 2018 Sierra Denali 1500 with the 6.2L V8. Even the wife likes this truck better. She is no speed demon, but she does just fine getting me down the road. If you can find one (they don't last long on the dealer's lot, I bought mine when it was in transit), go test drive a GMC Sierra or Silverado with the 3.0. You will be impressed.

the stop for me with this diesel is that the oil pump is belt driven and it’s in the rear of the engine, so when it requires replacement at 150k miles, the transmission and transfer case if you have four wheel drive, have to be dropped. it’s probably not cheap and I question why design an oil pump as such.

@ChevyDude there is one other way you can tell if the truck may have a Duramax Diesel, by looking at the front center of the truck down low in the air dam area, below where the front license plate bracket usually goes. The normal trucks the air dam is a solid piece whereas the diesel there are square holes down there. The only problem with looking for that is that the 4 cylinder 2.7L gas engine has those same holes in the air dam as well. I hope you can make sense of my explanation.

owned a 1500 RST Duramax now since december 2019. so far, had it recalled 2x. however my best mpg was 41 mpg, and average 25 combined. I will say the first recall was due to loose alternator cables because i guess there was too much glue around the area or something. and the 2nd recall was a hard software update the dealership needed to perform. something about the internal and external temp sensors not matching. It is an amazing truck and performs well. still a happy purchase. 2200 miles currently.

Glad to see they have a 4x4 indicator on the gauge cluster/dash. I have a 2016 Colorado Z71 and the only way you can see if you are in 4 wheel drive is to look at the switch knob. That would not be so bad, but the switch knob is not in a very visible location and gets blocked by the steering wheel. I made the comment, one thing I don’t like about my truck is they did not include a 4x4 indicator on the dash.

I would drive Al the way up there just to buy a Silverado from you the info you give out and the content on your videos are great

That would make a terrific travel trailer tow rig, within the tow restrictions, of course - 9300 pounds should be good for say anything up to 28' or so.

Inline 6 diesels are the only way to go!

In past years Chevrolet and GMC sales numbers combined were higher than Ford or Dodge..
Now GM just needs a 7 Liter inline I-6 Duramax engine for the 3/4 2500 HD
