Samsung Galaxy S4 vs iPhone 5 full comparison

We're taking a detailed look at the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5, two of the best smartphones of the moment.

I can't say there's a clear winner in this iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S4 comparison, as both phones have their pros and cons. The Iphone is smaller, lighter and runs iOS. The SGS 4 is larger, but packs a larger screen, bigger battery and all the Android goodies and features, plus a handful of other Samsung developed ones, like the entire suite of SApps and the gestures and motion controls.

In the end, choosing between then iPhone 5 or the Samsung Galaxy S4 is mainly a matter of personal taste and requirements.

I read many reviews on the Galaxy S4 and feel I've made a good choice for what I was looking for. The rest of my family, spouse and two daughters are Iphone users and just upgraded yesterday to Iphone 5... I feel I got the best of everything I was looking for in my purchase of the Galaxy S4!

Thank you for this video. This is one of the most usefull and honest I have seen. Most compairing videos between Iphone5 and Galaxy s4 are prejudiced towards one or the other. Although I've always been a Samsung guy, I appreciate how non-bias this comparison was. Although my mind hasn't changed to Iphone and I am getting the S4 at the end of the month, this video was a great comparison and helped me better understand why some choose Iphone vs Samsung phones. I can't say how the S4 performs as I have not had the chance to try it. All I can say is that I always seem to gravitate back to apple. Thanks from Nova Scotia.

I have both phones and this is probably the first video that I see, that compares realistically and without one-sided opinions. Obviously you are an apple fan but that didnt stop you from saying things as they are so... thumbs up from me :)

Duly noted. I understand fragmentation was not your main point, but I mentioned it in reference to the comment that points out how new Android versions spread slowly. Which again, is true, but not something that cannot be fixed. If you prefer not to alter your device you may be stuck with an old OS (particularly if you are with Verizon), but there are options. But I can agree with your point that there is nothing wrong with jailbreaking your iPhone. It's yours, use it how you want!

That is true. Fragmentation is one of the disadvantages of Android. But there are pros and cons. Fragmentation exists because there are so many models from so many manufacturers. The benefit to that is that you have choices. If there are specific needs you have in a phone, you can pick the phone that suits those needs. It's not a "one size fits all" kind of thing. And though rooting is not necessary, if someone wants early updates that is one way to accomplish it.

Good review. I have the iPhone 5 but have owned Windows versions of Samsung Phones in the past. The only thing I think the S4 has over the I5 is the expandable memory and the replaceable battery option. Though this is still not a deal breaker for me. Likewise, I enjoy the security and the easiness of backing up the iDevices.

The S4's video recording (06:20) is much improved over the iPhone which seems unstable & very choppy. .
Yet in your previous video "Samsung Galaxy S4 vs S3 vs iPhone 5 camera test comparison" the opposite happened, and you rated the iPhone the better. Are you now using the stabilization feature on the S4?
Really confused over which to choose between the 2 as video rec capability is vital to me. Also the S3 seems to have the best field of view.

I purchased a Galaxy S4 yesterday, the primary reason I chose the Galaxy S4 was for the enhanced camera. I like the phone but absolutely love the camera & features. Took photo's today, the picture quality equal to my Cannon Rebel EOS T3. Plastic case not issue, I bought a cover for aesthetics/personalization. I had an HTC prior, so I am familiar with the android operating system. I also liked the idea of added memory space and longer battery life. I wish it had the "facetime feature!
