US to establish new military base in Greece

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was in Greece to sign a defence agreement that will see an American base established near the Turkish border.
Greece stands to benefit from increased cooperation and ties with the United States.
Al Jazeera's John Psaropoulos reports from Athens.

They did at one time have US Army Bases as well as a US Air Force Base there until they deactivated them back in the mid to late 80's. I was stationed in northern Greece from 80-81.

Turkey were too independent for American "Master". The CIA organized coup against Erdogan and regime change in Turkey failed, and it only resulted in Turkey shifting away from the American, back stubbing "friend", towards Russia. They built together with Russia, gas pipe to supply Turkey and Southern Europe with Russian gas, bought Russian S-400, ignoring American sanctions, and proved, that the USA is not any more such a terrible superpower, that one must always afraid and obey, no matter what, despite adverse national interests.
The proud Turks' independent attitude, put the USA in a rather humiliating position, and the establishing a military base in Greece, so close to American bases in Turkey, means only one thing -- Americans will be soon moving out of Turkey military bases, despite the fact, that Turkey was strategically extremely important country to them. Incomparably more important than Greece could ever be. I'd be very surprised, if the Americans will not announce soon, that they are moving their military bases from Turkey to Greece. Just wonder, what reason will they give for doing that.
