It be awesome if you find a million dollar business that is doing “everything” right. And do a video of them. We’ve seen a lot of what not to do but it be awesome to see someone that’s holding the standard.

Mike, I love how you use 'architect' to describe
business strategy. It perfectly captures the
creativity and planning needed to build a

I own a junk removal business on the opposite end of North Carolina, and I'm also a solo operator. When I saw he was only charging $500 to fill his trailer and then paying so much to Thumbtack, I couldn't fathom how he was paying the bills. But, I understand where he's coming from. I built my business without going into debt by buying, restoring and reselling work trailers while simultaneously using them for jobs. I also worked full time while I ran my business on evenings and weekends. When I hit it full time in 2021, I didn't want to have to pay for advertising, so I learned how to create my own. The only paid advertising I've done so far is vehicle decals and business cards. The biggest thing that I focused on was building a brand. It's difficult to run a business while enduring everything he went through, for sure. But he was relying on a lead service that was robbing him blind. Branching out into additional services might be another viable option for him. For example, I also had years of experience operating equipment, so I decided to buy a small tractor which has allowed me to tap into an entirely new market. I wish him the best, and really enjoyed the video.

Let’s hear your deep dive on Christmas lights. Permanent vs temporary. Buying vs leasing to customers. How to price a job. Equipment required. I know it’s your new winter idea so would love to hear more about it.
