I really like Open Camera. The feature I like is the ability to records sound from an external microphone and the price. Thanks for an excellent overview of camera apps for Android.

Open Camera fan here. Using your tutorial I just created a short list of settings that I use the most, in order to quickly put the camera in the correct settings for what I want to do.

I use both Filmic Pro and Open Camera.I use Open Camera when I'm in a rush and need to be set up in seconds and Filmic Pro when I have time to really dial in for filming.

If you want the highest quality on open camera, chose PNG for photos. Takes decent amount of space, but spectacular quality.

Manual camera doesn't seem to provide much more than the free Open Camera. Also HedgeCam 2 is free

I am using the open camera and my default camera. Favourite feature is the manual setting iso and shutter speed.

If you have an actual android that has really blurry quality, I would definitely recommend Open Camera since the video blurs so mmuch less and looks so much better!! YW!

Just shopping around for a new app and am definitely going to try out a couple of those on your list, thanks for that!

Oh and for the record, it's ISO (EYESO) not EYE ESS OH. It's a word (derived from the Greek word isos, which means equal), capitalized only for marketing purposes; it is NOT an acronym (or Initialism) for the International Organization of Standards. Which in any case would be IOS, not ISO, but people still insist on spelling it out for some reason. Now you wouldn't spell out PEPSI or NIKE would you? lol. Anyway, great vid mate, perfect timing! :)

I am still on the hunt for a camera app that lets me take photos directly into an album (/folder) on the fly. Like Click a button on the ui, a list spawns of my albums and whichever one I select is the album/folder the photos are saved to. Being able to easily switch between them.

Organisation of my photos is a massive effort at the moment. Moving them to albums after they are taken.

At first I thought about an app that would simply let me tag my photos, but then I would need a gallery app that auto sorts photos based on the tag on the photo. It seems more realistic for an app that just changes the save location on the fly, from a UI list.

Since OpenCamera is open source, I may need to find a way to add the feature myself.

Please! Someone show me an android camera app that: 1- doesnt split the picture; 2- records sound from external mic.
Ive found only 3 apps that record sound from external mic: Camera MX, Open Camera and DSLR Camera. Camera MX has no rec/stop button and it makes videos too dark. Open Camera splits the picture almost in half. I stand as far as I can, but when i watch the recorded video, even my face doesnt fit into the picture. Thats what i hate most. DSLR is better, it splits the picture less, but it still does it. And it records only 10 minutes, so you always have to watch the button and be prepared to stop and continue at any moment every 10 min.
Turns out, there is no good camera app in the whole google play market and im so much angry about that.
