Not like the old days. I accidentally set it in the dark while feeling for my hood release. Cab was full to the ceiling and did not want to empty it to access glove box and owners manual. Great. Simple and to the point!

you dont have to release it manually. just depress the brake pedal, put in drive or reverse, then accelerate. it will release automatically.

Parking brakes should never be electronic. Manual ones have saved lives when hydraulic and electrical systems have failed.
