I’m always giddy when I finish knitting or sewing projects and this FO is no exception. I knit this beautiful cardigan using wool I dyed with Easter egg dye! In this video, I'll give you a quick reminder of where this project started with wool and egg dye, highlights of my swatching process, tips for knitting this cardigan so you won’t run out of yarn, and celebrate by sewing a dress that only requires one seam and a hem on my vintage rotary electric White 77 sewing machine from the 1940s. Let’s get spinning!

2 videos in a week! I feel spoiled. Hubby wonders why I'm going from my office while working, because I'm loving that cardigan. It's giving very autumn vibes

I love that Wheel Daddy is also Machine Daddy in his alternate life. 😂

I love the brown edging, it really brings out some autumnal colours in the yarn. And the clip is lovely!

Pulling out threads is also a way to decorate the edges of a fabric. You pull out not just one, but several threads. And then, using embroidery thread, you can bunch several of the ones crossing the gap by stitching them together, little loops of embroidery thread creating the bunches. I have no idea what that’s called, but I remember my mother decorating the hem around a tablecloth in this manner.

Your dress is beautiful, and so is the cardigan. Both suit you so well! It warms my heart to see you so happy.

I needed that, after a stressful day at work and an evening sitting with her friend at the hospital, where her mother is in the process of passing away from cancer. I needed that radiant, beautiful smile of yours and I didn’t know I did until I saw it. THANK YOU!

I am in awe of the way you plan out matching stripes -- sleeves to the bodice. I learned how to knit when I was 5 years old (I'm 78) and have knitted scores of sweaters, socks, hats, gloves, mittens...you name it. I once taught knitting, but apart from mastering double points, intarsia, and magic loop, I would never attempt matching stripes on a knit. You are a true artist.

what a treasure Mark is to find that sewing machine and restore it to working order. Those old machines are real work horses and to have all the useful attachments is such a bonus. The cardy is lovely and having matched sleeves does add elegance and balance to it.

Jillian, your sweater and dress look fabulous. I'm so happy your husband found you a vintage sewing machine for FREE. I'm sure sure you'll be putting it to good use. Enjoy.

I love your channel so much! You come across with such genuine infectious joy for the craft that it makes it easy to forget you have *incredible* command over such a wide breadth of fiber art skills. That depth of knowledge would be so intimidating on anyone else, but you manage to make videos that are welcoming and informative for experts and beginners at the same time.

I am so glad you explained the difference between warp and weft and why one is always easier to rip than the other. Not too many people know that and a lot of people would nerve rip down fabric but it’s the best way to get a really straight edge. Love your hand dyed, hand spun, hand knit cardigan and hand made dress, lovely and so you ❤ P.S. that sewing machine find is exquisite, love it

I am in awe at how perfectly your stripes lined up on the cardigan. It looks perfect. I love the pink dress, and I love the linen dress on you. Fantastic work.

Ripping straight grain fabrics, or pulling a thread and cutting the gap, is actually the best way to make sure your fabric grain is straight! Cutting often goes across the grain and gives one a more crooked or rough looking edge.

Golly, you matched the sleeves so well! And as for that free sewing machine — what a find (clever Mark seeing it and then being able to get it going so well)
