The red thirst and black rage make the Blood Angels better, and their combat experience is more than the bigger stronger faster offered by the Primaris. They are not gene-seed flaws, but gifts from their Primarchs. Would you say Dante and Mephiston are lesser to the Pramaris? Gabriel Seth is correct to question Roboute Guilliman.

I think Calgar's decision to be a labrat came from the realization of his worthlessness now that their Primarch has returned. Hence, in order to put the other astartes' worries regarding the process to rest, he valiantly offered himself to be probed by those tentacled toaster lovers. Leading the way nonetheless for others to become slightly stronger at the cost of getting their bodies violated by tentacled tech .

Story wise turning the space marines into primaris sounds like an option that'll kill more than transform and fuel the suspicion and hate of the new primaris

As a chaplain of the salamanders, I underwent this process as a test to see if it would work. It was excruciating, but worth it.

Like at the start of the Great Crusade all the Astartes were Terrans, who had been supplanted at the time of the Heresy by Astartes grown from the natives of the worlds the Primarchs had been cast out on, with few exceptions. Were the humans on the colonies superior to the Terrans chosen directly by the Emperor? Probably not, but they were available in the numbers necessary to fuel the Great Crusade. I think through attrition those Astartes who don't undergo the Primaris conversion will simply be replaced over time until the 40K Astartes become anachronisms.

The whole thing is one big, bitch slap to every seasoned space marine collector's face who has been collecting marines for the last 10-20 years. GW is like "Oh hey, your marines are obsolete, these new guys are better in every way. You don't "HAVE TO" buy them ... but we just won't be releasing any more standard marine stuff from now"

The artwork of an Astartes @4.26 is phenomenal! It's practically a renaissance masterpiece by one of the original masters. One of the best I've seen.

Legendary badass Calgar may be, the process still almost killed him, it would probably be easier starting with a baseline human and introducing the new organs alongside the others.

What is next? After 5 years, I will introduce even special, special super soldiers. I will call them as super duper ultra marines and they will be the baddest baddest space marines out of them all. And they will be as plentiful as guardsmen too! Lore will be so much better then than it is now!
