Im going to repeat myself because I think it's a worthy point - and I've spoken to other synth guys who feel the same way - please don't use the Deep Mind keybed. Use a Fatar TP9 or equiv. After putting SO much work in the UBXa, make the part the player constantly touches exude quality. This is so important in a synth that is representing an iconic synthesizer.

Take your time. We need a polished product not something rushed! Much much love.

When are Behringer cloning houses so I can afford one big enough to put all this gear in?

As an owner of a deepmind 12 and an avid Oberheim user, I implore you to get this right and DON"T use a cheap keybed ie the deepmind keybed. If you get the sound right, everyone will pay the extra 200 bucks for a quality playable keybed. Make a module version to get a lower price version.

Been getting treated for cancer for the last year. This board has kept me going. Gotta have it!

Sounding and looking really great. There are many of us who are running out of space in our studios. Having a module option would make this a lot easier to squeeze into my space. I have added a lot of Behringer gear here in the last 3 years, Neutron, Model D, K2, RD 8, TD-3 and a couple of ADA8200s to patch my outboard gear into my DAW and look forward to adding this to the collection.

As soon as it releases i'm buying one! Maybe even two... I have been waiting for this one and the CS-80 remake for a long time!

Not sure how people are upset with Behringer for some delayed releases, they’ve released more new products in the last couple years than like any synth company in history 😂

I sincerely hope you guys produce enough of these. Everyone and their moms is going to want to buy this one.

The UB-Xa is jockeying to become my desert island synth!

Give em time to get it right. As a proud owner of an 8 voice obxa I’m eagerly awaiting the ubxa. Half of the obxa and obx magic is that each voice is on a dedicated separate card and none of those 8 cards sound 100 percent identical no matter how well you set them up per the oberheim service manual. The drifting and beating of those cards in polyphony is a big part of that sound and it is massive, organic, and surrounds you. One more thing that is a give away. The oberheim output section is dirty and darker sounding while most modern analog synths I play and own are very clean and hi fi sounding. Something to consider.

Sounds promising! In the ball park of the OB-Xa sound for sure. Well done Behringer!

Thanks for the update, and cheers for not doing another timed teaser for a blurry teaser.

Hmm, I'm a bit concerned about this project. Right at the start of the filter sweep at 1:14 I'm hearing some odd noise in the sound with the filter closed. It almost sounds like the quantization noise in an 8-bit sample, that I remember from my old Amiga computer. :O. In the first teaser video from a year ago, there was also a similar strange noise in the sound throughout the video that shouldn't be there. From just this very short impression, I get the feeling this isn't yet completely resolved. Hopefully this is not the case and this will not be what the finished product sounds like, otherwise it would be rather disappointing. I would love to have a good OBXa clone for a decent price, but it should sound like an OBXa without this strange 'quantization noise' when you close the filter.

Ive owned an OB8 and used a an ObXA when they were both still cheap enough to buy on ebay. The Xa had the fatter sound, and even on YouTube, this sounds pretty spot on to the real deal 👌

Hopefully (and thankfully) the Behringer version won't be as heavy; the Xa used voicecards, so an 8 voice would weigh 20kg or so.

If you want to sell them like hot cakes (not that they won't already anyway), hire on Howard Scarr to make a preset bank. Best preset designer, hands down!

I at one time owned a Prophet 5 and an OB-Xa at the same time, in my studio. Now I have a Prophet 6, a far better than reasonable approximation with extra benefits such as stability! an extra voice of polyphony better modulation and FX, also I own an OB6, again a thoroughly decent approximation of the Oberheim sound, a Montage and other synths as well. Listening to this demo of and looking at the UB-Xa two things strike me. The first is that it looks just like an Oberheim. And the second is that although it makes some decent sounds, none of them to me sound anything like any Oberheim I've ever heard before. Snake oil, some may say, and have. Yet if this goes out at around £1500 here in the UK, for most I don't suppose that will matter very much. Importantly it is also why if you want the real deal, it's going to be produced by Tom Oberheim himself, with Dave Smith, and cost in the region of £5000. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

Please Behringer, make a stereo Multi effect that can kick Axe FX/Fractal, Eventide, line 6, etc, asses. I know if someone can do it, its you guys. And please more CS-80 news too, even if it sound like shit at this point.
