I dont think people understand what manic pixie dream girl means, Jules is absolutely one and Penny Lane too. They can have personality’s and development, most of the well written ones do and with that, most of the time a manic pixie dream girl is portrayed, the film generally analyzed will show that the protagonist that fell for said dream girl was mostly projecting this image of perfection onto her, when either she was transparent about not being interested or consistent in never being in relationships/ put off by the idolization or lack of real relationship because the protagonist doesn’t actually care about them as a person as much as the idea of them they had

Penny Lane is not a manic Pixie dream girl, she’s a hurt and manipulated young women trying really hard to seem cool and ethereal despite being madly in love with someone who would trade her to Humble Pie for $50 and a case of beer.

Penny lane doesnt fit the trope. It's annoying that any quirky female character is dismissed as such.

Haven’t watched the show. Is she transgender?

Isn’t Julie a trans boy as a character? So it’s not a pixie girl … he is not even a girl
