I was a third generation Jw from my maternal side and a second gen from my paternal side. I left after I stumbled into some Biblical literatures online that made more sense than what I get from the Watch Tower . I started some serious researches online that helped woke me up.

My mother was raised Catholic, a southern lady moved up north. She was not liked by in laws & married in a new town so she wanted a new church group and JW came to the door. She liked the congregation community and outreach preaching and read Bible all the time loved the magazines. She was JW for over 50 years & not treated to great by the local JW .She is dead now but if alive I think the CSA would make her leave.

It's messed up, seeing a lot of Christians and Muslims looked at pictures of destroyed Buddhist temples and calling Burmese and Thai people bad names and saying that the earthquake is a sign from God to repent, etc messed up

My dad was in the Vietnam war. Special Forces. Killed people. The witnesses helped my dad have a nice place in that time. Caused him to do stuff for the branch. I was born in.

Yeah, I was not born in. I got in at the age of 30 and it was because my new wife had studied with them before and they caught her when she was down and out. I was doing great brand new house first child great extended family relationship and I don’t know why I fell for it. I still think it was the only Super bad decision I ever made in my life and it lasted for 30 years. The ex-wife now is still in it. The oldest child is in it and the other three children just despise what happened to them and I am pissed at myself for putting them through what they went through

I became a JW because I’m old & need help, & no matter what anyone says, a cult takes care of its own. I’m not going to break any “rules” since I don’t care to be involved in any of the things they say to stay away from (again, I’m old, so…😊). I can’t go out in service much because I have arthritis, and again, I’m old so I can only do but so much. But the Witnesses do watch out for their members, as all cults do, but in this case, it works for me because I have more help from them than any so- called “family” members (as in bio family). You don’t know everyone’s situation so you shouldn’t ASSUME why some people may WILLINGLY & KNOWINGLY join a religious cult. Just keep that in mind next time you want to assume that all JW’s are just brainwashed or don’t realize what they signed up for.

I'm not a JW and have never been one. None of my family or friends are JW. That is why I ask you this question: How many of the unusual requirements are told to people before joining the JW religion? For example, are they told that they will be (1) expected to stop celebrating holidays, (2) stop receiving certain kinds of medical intervention such as blood donations, (3) stop talking to outsiders except for strict business reasons or to convert them to JW, (4) only call opposite-sex person if planning to date or marry, (5) regularly attend specific JW meetings each week, and (6) any other rules that are different from main population? Basically, I am asking about Disclosure. Are potential or incoming members told the rules before they join? Or are some JW rules surprised on them after they join? I understand if you cannot answer. The internet shows a JW building within ten miles of me so I could visit to ask there. In your opinion, will the JW people there be inclined to tell me all the expected rules beforehand or must I study Bible with them first? I greatly appreciate your reply to this thread or through a future video. Thank you.

Your question “why people join Jehovah’s Witnesses” is very simple to answer: Most people dread death. To deal with this horrible prospect, most religions dangle the carrot of some kind of eternal afterlife in paradise... but... only after you die. Better than nothing I suppose, but still not very appealing, is it? Then along come Jehovah’s Witnesses. To attain their version of eternal paradise you don’t first have to die! All you have to do is believe their doctrine that the mighty battle of Armageddon, between the creator of the universe (Jehovah God) and Satan the devil, will happen “very soon”, and of course, Jehovah God will win this battle and all his followers will go on to live forever in a restored, worldwide Garden of Eden. Isn’t that lovely?! Trouble is, for the last 140 years, their predicted dates for Armageddon have ALL come and gone with nothing happening! Years ago, these prophetic failures were all blamed on “over-enthusiasm” by Watchtower writers or, misplaced “speculation” by Watchtower readers but now, in the age of the internet, when anyone with a computer has instant access to everything they’ve ever said or written, there is nowhere left for them to hide. Their entire theology is provably, one massive lie!

He had me until he mentioned the Harry Potter movie, yuck!

I am not a Jehovah Witness but thank God, I have better taste than that. It is not like you have to go from one extreme the other, it is either be in a false version of Christianity to begin with or be irreverent!

This is a gross lie perpetuated by people who lack insight into the faith. Jehovah's Witnesses are a wonderful people who strive to educate people on God's will and purpose for humankind. There have been many people who have been trapped in unhealthy lifestyles who upon encountering this organization, turn their lives around for the better. So while it's comforting for some to get up on their soapbox and denounce this religion, the truth is this religion has saved many and continues to save many from the pitfalls of this corrupt and wicked system of things.

I’m a JW & I’m watching your channel. Just for you to know…😊. Btw: there are reasons why people like myself who realize it’s a cult, but still CHOOSE to remain. I should make a video about that. But as you & I both know, that would not work out! LOL 😆
