A Heater in a Campervan is NOT ESSENTIAL. You don’t need a heater. I will explain why and give you some ideas and options of what you could use instead.
People often have diesel or gas heaters installed, or may look for an electric fan heater, but they are not necessary.

What do you use? Do you have a campervan heater?

The @Staycation Lifestyle van conversion is coming along.

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.

I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which is removable, TV's on headrests.

Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.
Vanlife is amazing, get out and explore, it's a great adventure.
There are many great camper adventures to come

Thanks must go to the following:
Transporter HQ for my tailgate struts

Amazon Audible is great for listening to books on longer journeys, I have used it for years.

Having never camped or caravaned we bought a campervan 4 years ago which didn't have a heater.
After a weekend in Dawlish where the temperature was -1°C during the day and -6°C overnight we struggled with everything being ice cold inside.
Deisel heater fitted a couple of weeks later, absolute game changer warm van after a long day's winter walking.

I got bought an electric throw over blanket, and i fell in love. Heats really well and uses very low electricity. 100% getting one for the van as plan no heating in mine.

In this weather, I have a fire in a folding BBQ and when not using it for food have a 10l stainless steel bucket filled with sand. I put that on the fire until it is time to go to sleep in the van and bring the bucket in with me. I made a frame to sit the bucket in so it doesn't get knocked over. Keeps the van warm the whole night.

a heated blanket is ok for sleeping but other time in the van its not always the best a deisel heater is a game changer can be expensive to get someone to fit them but worth it

I have camped in my well insulated Ford Custom in winter with 6 individually caged dogs they kept me warm.

insulation, window covers and a little oil filled radiator work the best. a heated blanket is also a nice touch.

I used to drive back and forth between Oregon and Wyoming, and had no heating systems. You really do need a knit cap for that. If you have a fire going, put a good sized river rock over the fire for a while. Put it in your sleeping bag down by your feet. It will last a lot longer than a water bag.

Hello, few month ago you were saying that you are thinking that you might go for a T7 California in the future, are you still on that or have you changed your mind? ty

2 weeks ago, I bought a bluetti eb55 and the vango double heated sleeping bag! Im still yet to try them out in the cold, today (17th Nov) seem the coldest day we've had yet up in the northeast, me and my little lad will be heading out soon for a night to test them out... I have however got a mini slim oil radiator as a backup... 😅👍🏻

For me, the big thing is that I love traveling, either in my own vehicle or on the train. I prefer to travel on my own, and when I have my campervan, that will be great!!

What I want to know is what type of insulation will keep the heat in the longest, so for example heat the van before bed then turn it off and wake up the next morning without the air temperature having dropped more than a bit

The heater is nice when you are just sitting inside the van, reading a book, watching a movie, doing some remote work, cooking, ... The heater is nice to warm you up before going to sleep, the heater is great to warm the van as a waking up service, but at night a decent quilt and matress and maybe a beany keep me/ us plenty warm and the heater is off, or maybe in frost protection mode. With the heater on at night i feel guilty leaving plenty of ventilation open, ..

All the outside insulation, ... It’s a little warmer and you have far less condensation on the windows, but, .. You bother to find a place with a nice view, park the car, and put the insulation outside to live in a dark bunker?.. in the rain/ snow it's a wet mess that takes a lot of space, you need to get out in the cold/ rain to place/ remove the covers, ..

Inside isolation is a bit colder and has more condensation on the windows but It’s far easier to store/manage, and as you don't need to get out to adjust it you can easily change it, ..

In a properly insulated and ventilated motorhome with isolated windows and skylights, .. covering the unisolated, drafty front completely is a good idea, in a drafty ( pop top) campervan where non of the windows are isolated i find the benefits do not outweigh the disadvantages, ..

Oh dear, as soon as anyone drags out a Bluetti or similar we all know that we are talking Bourgeois 'California' lifestyle money. The Bluetti probably costs £600 for half a kilowatt-hour, the electric sleeping duvet (which itself is the size of a camper van) probably costs another £300,

£70, 000 camper van that dilutes it's own high precision-spec low viscosity engine oil, hahahaha.

I am looking forward to a review on the very latest KTEL Heated 'Electric Arse Wiper' gadget though Sir, because I do hate cold toilet paper in Winter when on the porta potti, maybe there is a winter van-life Bidet to test as well, hahahaha.

Keep up the good work Sir, kind regards, and all the very best for the coming 'Yar'.

Seriously, all the best Sir.

Hi. Really enjoy your videos. Very informative. Quick question, would the Bluetti power a single electric blanket through the night?

The campervan I’m about to get is a Nissan eNV200. Not only is the vehicle electric, the campervan equipment is also all electric.

Interesting alternatives but the first thing on my wife's priority list when I get a van will be a heater so there'll be no chance 😂
