This year, IMO's Day of the Seafarer campaign aims to inspire young people to consider a career at sea and learn more about this viable and exciting profession.
I am a 15 year old boy who dreams of being a sailor in the future in oil tanker. This video gave me motivation. Thanks to creators⚓

I don't care what these other salts say; going out to sea is great. Even the boring time at sea, I still wouldn't give that up for the world; sunsets, full moons shining over the sea, islands in the distance.
Sure, it is tough, but it is rewarding.

Dear IMOHQ,
In view of different log books, safety checklists, daily reports, pre-arrival forms etc. may say that boring paperworks on board much more than on shore. So your goodwill cartoon does not reflects the realities.

I missing my husband.... he is also i really love

Missing: dull ocean-passage watch if you're deck; alarms going off in the dead of night if you're engine.
And absolutely no-one has pictures of ships in their cabins!!!
Yosy
IMO thank you for all things what you do!!! I understand that it just cartoon but I notice here some safety violаtion. :(
andriiiovov
Looks like he had been managed the ship by himself. That is not comply with the safe manning and the mlc convention at all 😀 The contract of single officer in two minutes 😀

My dream was to become a captain, so I wanted to study the career of maritime enginyeri at the university of Barcelona, but I was not good enough at maths, so I didn't have enough grades to enter to this studies. I am still young, don't wich ways I could take, I am already regreeting
chris_cost
yeah...very romantic, indeed!!! But how do you fix 4 cracks in a hold???

Dear IMOHQ,
Asking permission to make use of this video as a material for a career talk. I will be roaming around the country as I was invited to do a maritime profession awareness to some senior high schools.
thanks for the clip.

What about the last part of the video. Offering jobs, is that really true...
raglin-xxix
Don't be fooled comrades, every sailor I know, including myself, dreams about a office job.
habibmammedov
I would do anything for a career at sea :(

I had to comment this. This is not even close to reality. You should put your efforts in actually fixing the bad conditions we have on board insteaf of promoting a career that causes a lot of stress and isolation. This is wrong.

For an Australian it's really hard. I'm trying to qualify as an engineer but it's nearly impossible to get sea time as most companies want people that will work for peanuts (which I am willing to do).
Will-cetv
Not even close to the real picture of what happens
mankinddevilment
This movie is not even close to truth what is the life and work onboard. Instead of making movies for a lot of money, better take a peak to real problems of people working at sea.
