The 1960's and 70's were when "white music" and "black music" came together as "music."

People who can sing lead vocals and drum at the same time are freaks of nature, in a good way.

Rare Earth is one of the most underappreciated bands in history.

Rare Earth was a great soul rock band. Playing the drums and singing lead vocals is not easy.

Pete Rivera, the lead singer, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--he more than deserves it!

Cover of the Temps. This is an edit of a much longer version. Rare Earth was one of the "rare" white acts on Motown. Your wig reminds me you should do a reaction to Billy Preston "Will it Go 'Round in Circles".

Jamel,
Rare Earth was Barry Gordy’s “white” Motown group that did several Motown Classics!

The Temptations couldn’t do it this powerful! Drummer is killing it with his vocals and drums! Awesome

The long version takes up the whole side of the album which is over 20 minutes long. It came out in 1970. I wish I could go back to 1970.

The reason Rare Earth got a hold of "Get Ready" is because they were signed to Motown by Berry Gordy. In the early 70's, Gordy was looking to branch out and include white groups and singers among the Motown stable. Rare Earth was the most successful and thus the most famous of those groups. Sitting here right now I can't actually remember any of the other white Motown bands but I remember there were a few.

The Temptations version is great, and the original- but Rare Earth's version is more forceful, and rock in- that is why it became a hit, years later!

Anyone else talk to him when he has an "aha" moment? When Jamal aka Jamel says, "Wait wait wait!" I start talking to him like he's here. "YUP! YOU KNOW THIS SONG!" 🖤💖🖤

One of the first songs you learn as a drummer. Fantastic rhythm.
