70000 Britannia's Farewell Seasons 2018-2020

Показать описание
Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this compilation video we review the farewell seasons between 2018 & 2020 of Jeremy Hosking's 70000 Britannia as he has come to an end of his 10 year boiler certificate which ran from 2010 to 2020.
We review the Brit on 2 major routes for mainline steam.
2018 & 2019 on the Crewe, Chester, Wrexham, Shrewsbury, Telford & Stafford circuit on a variety of duties from crew training run to Saphos workings.
We see the brit in fine fettle in 2019 on the WCML during the climb to Shap in May 2019 in the lake district with 12 coaches in tow with no diesel at the rear.
We end this review working The Fellsman between 2019 & 2020 between Crewe & Carlisle via The Settle & Carlisle with the brit once again in fine form.
We feature the brit at a variety of locations including shot on the long drag & the climb to Ais Gill & a memorable spine tingling whistle through Garsdale station which also turned out to be my last decent shot of 70000 Britannia before withdrawal for his overhaul.
Originally the Brit's boiler ticket was extended to allow the Brit to operate right through to the end of the 2020 season but unfortunately on the August run of The Fellsman the brit's bearings overheated at Carlisle & was not fit to do the return working.
Once arrived back at Crewe after a class 20 diesel within Jeremy Hosking's camp which was a stand by engine for The Staycasion trains was summoned from Appleby to rescue Britannia & drag the loco home via Shap in the middle of the night.
The brit is now undergoing overhaul at Crewe 5A & thanks to the bottom end being overhauled completed back in 2018 a quick turn around is expected so hopefully 70000 Britannia will be back in steam with a fresh 10 year boiler ticket in 2021 next year.
Hopefully it won't be to long till we hear the sound of 70000 Britannia on the mainline & on a heritage railways once again in the not so distant future.
Thanks for reading enjoy the compilation of 70000 Britannia & stay safe.
