Now is a fraught time for the U.S.-China relationship: Washington and Beijing are at loggerheads over a long list of issues, including allegations of state-supported cyberattacks, long-simmering trade tensions that have yet to be resolved, a war of words over the origins of the COVID pandemic, and concerns over rights abuses in Xinjiang and Hong Kong. Can the Biden administration chart a new course in U.S.-China relations, or will tensions inevitably continue to grow? This panel looks at several core dimensions of the relationship and explores prospects for collaboration between the two countries on key issues of mutual concern.

This panel discussion features: James Feinerman, James M. Morita Professor of Asian Legal Studies and faculty director of the Center for Asian Law (moderator); Anupam Chander, Professor of Law and a prominent scholar of global technology regulation; Lawrence Gostin, University Professor and Director of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law; and Jennifer Hillman, Professor of Practice and a leading expert on international trade law.

This forum is too political. Not grounded in reality. This is hurting America’s future. The general theme is pointing fingers at others and not enough self reflection.
