despite the new good game based movies their are still some modern stinkers too, Borderlands and Monster Hunter come to mind.
I just don't know what the film studio was thinking, should probably just been fully animated, a good animation studio also tends to have better writters to bridge serious and comedy, movie for Kids and Adults.
or how i would write it as a fantasy story honing in on the medieval elements, but that would be too "risky" for hollywood
