Nothing will change the course of your life like a career in Nuclear Operations. From operating control systems in the reactor room as a Nuclear Electronics Technician, to commanding a ship’s electrical power as a Nuclear Electrician’s Mate, to maintaining propulsion machinery as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate—you’ll have the opportunity to work on the advanced nuclear systems aboard aircraft carriers and submarines. You’ll need unwavering passion for math and science along with enough determination to propel you through advanced training. But with lucrative post-service career opportunities at Fortune 500 companies and massive enlistment and re-enlistment bonuses, you’ll find it really does pay to be smart.

Went through the officers' pipeline as a civilian contractor - this program has instilled a drive for excellence like no other before in my life.

Currently in the pipeline, finishing prototype.
Join and do not forget why you did.
You get an education and a brotherhood like no other. Nukes are a small but vital portion of the navy.
Tips: study and do your work. Never thought id be capable of making it this far but with every exam that’s come my way glad to say I’ve passed every single one… there are many. Many…. But it’s worth it
Will truly test your character and ability to succeed in the most extenuating circumstances.
Give it your all and it will pay dividends.
Hooyah. Class 2401

I know a lot of people who only signed on as nukes for the enlistment bonuses. They failed out and had to pay it all back. Including the portion they spent...

currently in the pipeline. wont lie, the navy nuke pipeline will make your head explode, if anyone trying to be a nuke heres my main tips, 1: put your heart into it and find a reason to succeed, 2: put in the work, if they see that your putting in effort they will put in as much effort into you as you give to them.

Complex? You only have two reactors. Try it with eight. USS Enterprise, CVN-65 1981-1984.

Hello, How can I volunteer in the US Navy? Is there volunteering at the moment or not? I hope to respond because I want and sincerely to volunteer in the US Navy. Serving America. Honor me. Long live Trump. Long live America.

I don't know why they like calling them "nuclear powered" because technically these are steam/electric powered ships. Nuclear fission is the method used to create the steam. The fission itself does not power or electrify the vessel, it's a way to produce the heat necessary to heat water. Uranium has basically replaced coal, but the principle is the same. Pressurized steam is the desired product to turn the turbines that either directly turn the propellers and/or generate electricity. Nuclar power is just a more efficient way to create steam than fossil fuels....but it's heated and pressurized water (steam) that turns the turbines.
