Instructor's note: There's a mistake in this video when I say "192.168.1.1" is a special Internet address that "means your local machine". This isn't correct - the address for your local machine is normally 127.0.0.1. The 192.168.1.1 address is the default address for many routers. Hence, the first address in the traceroute is 192.168.1.1, showing that packets are starting at the router attached to my machine. Sorry for the confusion!

For any one on a windows OS 'tracert' replaces 'traceroute' in the command prompt
