Hey! In the video I mention that Seth said in an interview that the writers room didn't know how to write a teenage girl. I found this well known info on several sites, but I can't find the original interview he said this. So take that with a pinch of salt.
Just wanted to clear that up, thanks ✌️

I like what they're doing with Meg now. She's not really a punching bag anymore. Just a loose cannon who's doing something wild in the background. Fits her perfectly, she's been bullied her whole life and now she just doesn't care and does whatever chaotic thing she thinks up.

Something that I find kind of funny is how they constantly make fun of Meg's looks, when she's literally a perfect combo of both her parents, and Chris and Stewie exist lol.

Strange thing about Meg is, that she basically looks like her mother, who's more or less considered the hottest Woman in Quahog, just a bit shorter and with brown hair.

It still pisses me off that they say she’s “ugly”, but she looks just like Lois, just with brown hair.

I love the writers straight admit “we don’t understand women at ALL so we just do what we normally do when we don’t get something, just absolutely humiliate and ridicule it 🙂”

I'll never understand why this show is so desperate to call Meg ugly. she looks like a chubby brown haired Lois with glasses, by the shows own standards she's definitely not ugly

I knew a girl named Megan who actually introduced herself to me under a different name, and had introduced herself to someone else under a different name, because she hated the idea of being a Meg so much, strictly due to Meg from Family Guy, it was like being named Karen to her.

Everybody hating Meg is kinda like when Homer would strangle Bart on The Simpsons. The joke was that it was needlessly cruel and abrupt. The problem is that Meg's whole character seemed to revolve around her being ugly and unlovable with no other comedic angle.

The fact the writers said “they can’t relate to a teenage girl” shows how and why the show has been so incredibly unfunny and unoriginal. I mean seriously, a great writer knows how to write for any type of character.

funny how they said they couldn't relate with a teenage girl but they wrote Herbert's character perfectly

The hurricane episode was really cool and sad at the same time. It was incredible to see the whole family crumbling, the second Meg stood up for herself.
It took her 10 minutes to paint a mental portrait of her relatives and point out everything wrong with them, I was watching the episode like "OMG finally, I've been thinking that for years".
And then you realize that she's a scape goat for everyone's flaws and she accepts it.
She's the only one in the family who's both smart and selfless. I really like her.

So basically the writing staff was like “we couldn’t abuse real women so we created Meg”

Damn, it’s unsettling to hear the reason why Meg was written the way she was. He should have just kept that to himself.

The fact that a bunch of men were like "we can't relate to a female teen, so we are going to abu$e the crap out of her for laughs" says a lot about them and the mentality of adult men as a whole.

My name is Megan and in middle school, people hated me simply because my name was similar to Meg. I was bullied because of a cartoon character. It was the stupidest thing ever. Kids are cruel about the weirdest things

I'll always love Meg. Though mistreated, she's shown she doesn't need her family to define her and has carried on a life of her own. Heck, id be happy to help her one-up her parents; just to show she can be happy without them!

Apparently Mila Kunis has had issues with people saying "Shut up Meg" even when she's not recording. You really just want to give both girls a damn hug!

a part of not finding the abuse funny is the fact I see myself in her, seeing the self hatred and strange mannerisms and being thought as ugly, even though I haven't got any proof anyone else sees me as ugly, every time I see her face any negative treatment it scares me that I could be treated that same way by people that I love and trust.

I was seriously traumatized as a child because I watched my dad watch an episode where Meg attempted suicide and her dad continued to bully her. As a tween I looked exactly like Meg and I was also (secretly) suicidal at the time, so I was horrified to see my own father laugh at it. I even asked him "why are you laughing" and he just said "because its a joke". He never actually laid a hand in me but I was suddenly afraid. So I never told my family about my suicide attempt/ideation from the 3rd grade until I was in college.
