For those who still don't understand:
- Illaoi hits her E on Jayce with 1000 HP. The vessel and the real Jayce have 1000 HP
- Someone makes the REAL Jayce lose 700 HP. Now Jayce has 300 HP but the vessel STILL has 1000 HP
- If now the vessel takes let's say 800 damage and the damage it does to the real Jayce is 50%, i.e. 400 damage, the real Jayce dies.

As an Illaoi main, it is genuinely shocking that high level players do not understand this. Makes the times when I spam ping a kill potential spirit and they chase instead extra painful.

the vessel copies life and resistances both armor e magic defence when E hits.
This is important VS gnar. You can throw your E before gnar returns to his mini form. The spirit will take more damage before it breaks.

Yeah that’s one reason why a good illaoi will E, R, then W the actual champion instead of the vessel until they run away. They think they’re safe when they get out of her R range because they think they can’t die from vessel damage but since they got chunked after their spirit got pulled, they actually can.

But the vessel only transmits a max of like 60% of the damage, so you'd have to chunk them 40% first

Illaoi OTP here. and yes. thats exactly how it works. i finish kills all the time using that exact mechanic. i just wish the average player knew how to play around her.

this has opened my eyes to a new world and now i wanna try this out in a game despite me not playing top lane ever and having only played illaoi on my first 2 months of playing league

I don't know how many times playing a support I've had to ping our Illaoi's vessel because they don't even know how it works. I literally watched a mid fizz gank toplane. Illaoi e'd, fizz ulted the real person, then got a q off before they escaped into tower. They were still attached to the vessel which was still completely healthy and but the real one was at like 20% HP. I physically told them in our voice call to attack the vessel because illaoi could have slapped it a few times as she still had her other abilities up and fizz still had his hop.

They then told me there was "no point" because the vessel's damage link "cannot kill a target because it does percentage HP". I tried telling them that if you do 20% of the vessels total HP at the time of it hitting, and the target only has 20% HP left, they are dead. I find it funny how many illaoi players and even mains don't understand this
