( a + b ) ^3 = a^3 + 3 (a^2 ) b + 3 a (b^2) + b^3 put a= 10, b = 2 , and get the answer quickly . You can use Pascal coefficients for higher powers also .

Your explanation is satisfactory for numbers between 11 to 19. You have choosen wrong example you should have choosen numbers like 23 or 54 (exclude 1's in numbers).
