I’ve been using my miniature technical paints wrong. Here’s why.

Here’s a tip to give a vibrant green glow to your miniatures when you use your technical paints. Great for creating glow effects on Space Marine eyes, Necrons, and Skaven miniatures. Works with most color combos.

Firstly I want to apologize for the poor quality and sound. This was our very first YouTube short video and it doesn’t deserve the attention.

Secondly the overall point of this video is just use a light base to help your technical paints pop. We released an updated short explaining this.

Lastly, the number one thing I want to emphasize with this video is that THERE IS NO ONE “RIGHT” technique. The beauty of this hobby is that we as painters have an overwhelming amount of choices, which could be a blessing and a curse. Use your paints the way you want and are comfortable with!

If there's anything I've learned from YouTube, if there's a thing that can be done, I'm doing it wrong. 😂

I know that people are asking "why show this technique on a chainsaw, " but I think the technique itself is super useful and would look fantastic on something like the spikes of a dragon or a Tyranid. I'm thinking about trying this on the spikes of a Chaos warrior.

Tesseract glow is just a green fluor paint. And yes you get the most out of fluor paints when painted over bright colours, often over white. So this applies to all fluor colours. Just get fluor paints from other brand ^^

I usually put corax white and then paint over it with a layer of Hexwraith flame, then highlight with tesseract glow

Each technical paint has its own uses.
Tesseract glow is good for adding a healthy green glow to an area. Where Armageddon dust is basically liquid dirt in a bottle, great for basing and adding that worn feel to boots and blades. Blood for the blood god is easy gore, works wonders with stringy bits of hot glue.
They all act a little different, but with good technique they add a lot to any model.

No, I’m not using them wrong. But thanks for playing.

“You’re using them wrong” proceeds to show me something I’d never do. Who tf is using technical paints over a dark surface? What’s the point

At this point my biggest problem with painting is storing and organizing all of my paints in a way that I know what I already have😅

Technical paints sounds really cool, but first let me reimagine my entire workshop.

Well, this video just goes to show that certainly EVERYONE is using technical paint wrong. Especially whoever made this video

I just base coat with a black, then dry brush a white then apply the tesseract gives pretty much the same effect

I think the thing that most people get wrong about the Lamenters is that they’re not just unlucky. That’s more of the meme version, and in reality their story is much more about resilience and their enduring humanity than anything else. No matter what the universe throws at them, they just keep trucking along and doing their best to save the citizens of the Imperium. They’re also really shockingly effective as well (look how good they did vs the black legion, minotaurs, orks, etc), the issue is just that they’re constantly on the back foot. I get the “hah hah, toe stubbed, plasma exploded” thing, but as a massive Lamenter fan, it really misses a lot of their appeal when people only know them for that.

Wow that´s a cool advice. I want to intend the same effect with Fluo paints from Vallejo but im not so sure. Would you recommend this type of paint?

I dry brush it over a metallic silver primer because I’m a psychopath. But it looks fresh lol
