The massive Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet's Mosque) in the heart of the city is a popular Islamic destination. Its magnificent Green Dome towers over the remains of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and early Islamic leaders Abu Bakr and Umar. The Masjid al-Qiblatain (Qiblatain Mosque) is renowned as the location where the Prophet Muhammad received the directive to alter the direction of worship to Mecca.
