One of the most common swing flaws in 80 to 90 percent of all golfer's swings is a chicken wing. This tip allows you to finally understand and fix a chicken wing.

So why is a chicken wing so bad? Well, it narrows your swing arc losing you distance. It adds loft onto your clubs losing you distance. It causes twisting of the face which makes you inconsistent. Those are some pretty bad things. The problem is people don't understand why they even do a chicken wing.

Using my headcover I explain it so you will finally understand it then you can get onto fixing it. It is truly mind boggling how many people have a chicken wing and do nothing to fix it. This is what is holding you back. It is stopping you from playing your best golf. So watch this tip and learn why you are doing it. Once you know that you can get onto learning how to fix a chicken wing and start playing your best golf.

The headcover analogy is a great one, Paul. Yesterday I recommended your videos to another fellow golfer and made him write your name down so he wouldn't forget. Over the past 10 years I'll bet I've done the same for at least 50 golfers. Wish there was a way to know how they turned out. Your concept of the golf swing is so important to me you make me feel like a preacher. I'm now 85 and have shot my age 206 times (I keep track of everything!). Not one of those times came until after I found your first video. You're the most important golf teacher on the internet!

Oh Paul, this is so useful. I learned to play golf at 40 and as you said, I learned by using my arms - not my body. 2024 is the season I use my body for power. Thank you

You touch on this all the time Paul, and it's a consequence of a dominant swinger of the clubs using arms, not body. This is one damn tough habit to break. I can kick back at any practice range and see swings over and over of what you're not supposed to do, as compared to your tips. Everything is jerky, out of balance, and looks like a complete waste of time and energy. I appreciate all your tips, and have been working hard to incorporate them in my own swing and the results have been very positive. It's only been about 3 weeks using them, so the tendency to slip and regress at times is always there, but the cool thing I like is how simple it is to fix and move forward. Years of swinging wrong don't disappear super fast, but your tips have given me the quickest, simplest ways to change for the better. Repetition will help cure those regressions from time to time. Thanks.

This video is $. Thanks Paul. Have had a bad shank for a month now, and I've always had a chicken wing. Went to your no tension swing and turned off my arms and using my body. And swing through the ball not at the ball is another huge key. It's night and day and I'm hitting it farther now.

Paul, you make so much I'm trying, I'm trying! Thought I had it, played yesterday, and my mind took over, not good results, just as you described. This may help, thank you again!

Paul, your instructional videos have exposed so many flaws in my golf swing. Between my hanging on the back foot and chicken winging it, I've always been a thin to win mid 80's player. I have a feeling things are going to change in the next few weeks as long as my putter cooperates.

Love this swing method and Paul’s teaching is top knotch. Really no one better but when I do this swing my mid back really aches. I think it’s the separation of upper and lower body on the downswing putting a twist right there. Not sure how to get around it. I turn my belt buckle to the target and let the upper body lag and get pulled by the lower. Maybe I’m interpreting wrong.

Yes -- getting closer. Not easy to turn off the arms after a couple of decades -- so will keep working it. When I get it right, much easier swing (effortless). Easy to say, lots of practice to get there. Thank You!

IMHO: Best instruction (after viewing 100's of YT videos, spending 1000's of $), this guy & Gregg McHatton. In Gregg's case, in depth analysis of Ben Hogan. THANK YOU!

Paul, your videos have helped me drop my handicap by 5 strokes. Your ideas and analogies resonate with me and obviously with so many people as proven by the comments on your videos. Thank you! I do have a question that seems related to this video. When I (and I have seen many other people do this too) take practice swings I make easy loose-armed swings. When I put a ball in front of that swing I tense up and make an entirely different swing. How do I make the real swing the same as my practice swing? It is so frustrating.

I came across some of your videos last night and like the way you explain things. What are your thoughts on shaft weight? Lighter vs heavier. I’ve always thought lighter was better, but now I’m having 2nd thoughts.

Paul great stuff. In one month you have knocked 10 shots off my score. 9 iron all the way to 3 iron I hit straight. Never did I before I followed your stuff. And more distance as well! My one current hurdle is 3 wood and Driver. I still have a medium slice on those clubs. I think loose wrists. The way I do with irons. And I’m getting my body turned the same as I do with irons. Do you think I need to turn my body faster? When I try I all the sudden shank shots or completely mishit. Even though I feel I’m staying loose arms and wrists. Anyway thanks for all you do!!!

Chicken Wing is the wave of the future in golf I predict. I plan on implementing it starting tomorrow. What I like about this technique I developed for the golf industry is that it takes the hands out of the golf putting stroke and relies on the swinging of the shoulders alone.

I’ve turn off my arms but sometimes my grip clips . Should I still put pressure on my grip? Also I am 6’2 240 with a big chess. I find that sometimes my chest is too much in the way can you do a video for bigger taller golfers

My chicken wings which aren’t finger licking good are history. Thanks Paul

Hi Paul; we've all seen the headcover under the armpit drill but I tried using it between my elbow & ribs for a chicken wing because it can stay in your armpit if your upper arm is against your chest. The elbow is what separates from the body, not the upper arm so does it not make sense to use the object against the elbow for a chicken wing?

HI Paul. I am extending my arms to a point after the ball, but i am having an issue of scooping the ball, which causes me to lose 10-15 yards of distance on my irons. Is there a fix for that?
