Thanks for all the input from everyone in the comments. Truly humbled by the positive response from everyone.

It's extremely helpful to see what you guys think about my plans. I'm still not sure what to do but it's very humbling to hear the amazing feedback. Thank you 🙏

The flavour of your channel to date is for me it’s appeal, I wouldn’t regard it as “plodding along”; your personality and having Greg alongside is perfect, no need in my opinion to bring in any celebrities, their absence and the fact that your not an ‘Effluentcer” is refreshing.

You seem to be assuming that your viewers want something 'better' from you. Perhaps in reality they like your productions just the way they are! When you look at the competition, (some of whom are slightly bland) the difference you bring is your personality. I don't think it has anything to do with the type of cameras you use etc etc

Hi Chopsie! Your channel is one of the best going, because it’s informative without pushing brands. It’s like being on a bike run with your mates, and just talking. You have to think about your own security first, family, pension, (as you get up there in years, lol). I think you plus Greg, and with Mossy as a guest, would be great. He would have that affable element. Keep up the good work! 🏍️🏍️🇮🇪🇮🇪🐕🐕

Mate your channel is one of the best for quality 🤷🏼‍♂️ just sayin, I love it.
You're putting way too much pressure on yourself for something that was essentially created as a hobby and for fun.

Great to see you thinking about developing the channel content, never forget though that you're strongest suit is being someone we all enjoy spending time with.

For me, your channel is as good as 44Teeth, if not better. As others have said, your personality is key. What I’m saying is, don’t change what isn’t broken.

If you make a go of it i’ll watch and support the channel. If you stay the way you are i’ll watch and support the channel… Because i enjoy it just like it is now too👍

Sounds like you've got a pretty good set up already. I really don't think the quality needs to be improved and being too slick can turn people off. Doing things you like is not a business decision. What video gives the most views and therefore I presume the most income? I imagine sponsors are looking at views as well as do you fit their product.

From experience I suggest that at your age I wouldn't give up a well paid day job unless you have good contacts (it's who you know, not what you know) that you can rely on later, but if you can adjust your days/hours that may scratch your current itch and may give a better indication of what's possible to make a more informed decision. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The eye opener to me was the recent video tmf did on his earnings from YouTube. I would sit down and do a 10yr income forecast on what your current job pays you plus YouTube income versus income over the same period just from YouTube. Other factors to consider are your pension (which I assume you are getting through work), sickness (what if you got injured or ill), paid leave etc. Personally I would maybe see if you could drop 1 day a week at work to focus on this channel as this spreads your risk. Your channel is already one of the best out there and is growing steadily as a result. Also consider that all motorcycle channels are a niche market and discounting itchy boots / fortnine I don't see many getting over 200k in subscribers.
You definitely aren't plodding along and a bike channel is always going to need a mix of regular bike reviews etc to keep it ticking over.
Key thing is to think about what you need to live in say 10yrs once you might retire and what's going to best support
Life is always a balance between income to live plus enjoyment ✌️

Oi! I'm 60 y'ageist twonk. 😂 Love your channel. Deffo would watch more. Only caveat is everytime my hobby became my job it killed it. Probably just me. Also need back up if longterm illness/injury strikes. Good luck whatever you decide. We'll still be watching. That H2 is a locomotive 👍 Blow off valve is superb fun!

I wouldn’t fret over the quality of your content, it’s great.

One thing you do better than most channel is that you are a little more identifiable to the average rider-if there is one suggestion I could make, it would be to do more things like the average owner does-modification etc. Not all of us need repetitive coverage of bike launches when others do that well. Not that you don’t, but it’s one way to differentiate yourself.

I'd stay at your current day job, but if possible reduce your working days by one day or two days a week to allow you to keep a well paid job going. Then with the extra time, put it in to your channel, and as the channel picks up, reduce more time at your day job until you can swap to full time on the channel, if that makes sense?
As much as the H2 is my dream bike and every part of me says dont sell it, if i was in your position, i would sell the H2 and use that money for the channel to do new and exciting things, trips, purchases.

Frankly at 53 I wouldn’t go all in. The chance of success is there but it’s not like there aren’t already plenty of channels doing pretty much all the same things. Most of the ideas you mentioned have already been done to death by 44teeth. I guess in the end you’d be turning your passion into a job. Is that what you want? If you are keen to do it you need to be very clear how your channel is differentiated from all the others.

Think well ... if you make a day job of a passion, it changes the nature of the passion ... you can get a lot of pressure to make a comfortable living and that can screw up your passion ;)
