!!! - Here's What I Need To Know (Official Video)

Last Tuesday, we stayed late at the practice space and our drummer Chris Egan shot the video for our new single, Here’s What I Need To Know. And here’s what we need to know…what the fuck is up? no seriously. what the fuck is up? asking for a friend? No. Asking for ourselves, what the fucking fuck is up? Please. Do tell.

“Here’s What I Need To Know” is a song about the moment when you know a relationship is finished- either because you’re over it, or you realize the other person is. It’s about how all the details of those moments, like an Aaliyah song on the radio or watching snow fall through a window, become imprinted in your memory as well.

Musically, the first half builds using arpeggiated synths, trance stabs and layers of percussion. For the second half, we sampled a small bit of the end of the chorus, the last two chords and the word “over” to create a loop. Then, like in a French Touch song, we used that loop as the basis for the full beat that comes in to end the song and provide some release.

I'll always remember singing and dancing with you guys playing this at the Casbah. The album had just come out, so not everybody knew the lyrics yet, but my peeps and I sure did, so we just had to sing along. Nic jumped off the stage for the breakdown and boogied with us. Such a fun time.

Los norteamericanos nos ofrecen una buena ración de dance punk que no defrauda, después de 26 años de carrera en la que consiguen de nuevo llevarnos a la pista de baile con absoluto desenfreno. Nic Offer y su compañía exprimen la música electrónica, tres años después de "Wallop", con plenos como este “Here’s What I Need To Know”.
!!! (Chk Chk Chk) han sabido mantener vivo el revival punk funk de principios de los 2000. En este caso “Let It Be Blue” no deja de ser un disco hecho con ordenadores, a causa de la pandemia y el confinamiento impuesto, pero es también y quizá por ello uno de sus discos más variados y experimentales.
