WHY is this thing so fast? Voltage... lots and lots of voltage... with a good cooling unit. The MINISFORUM EliteMini UM780 XTX is an absolute beast for several reasons. The big one is that this is the first mini PC to bring Ryzen 7 mobile CPU performance up to 70W. It's hard to believe.

Let's list the specs:

You can get it as a barebone or loaded up with Ram, and M.2 SSD, and an OS.
AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor & AMD Radeon 780M
4 USB-A ports
2 USBB4 type C
2 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Ports
OCulink... yes, OCulink

It's insane how well the 780m performs. I think the next gen AMD APUs will be the time for me to jump in. I just want about 50% more performance than the 780m gets.

It's so crazy that crisis is still used as benchmarks today and I'm glad that you used it I use it as well for my benchmarks. It's still one of the best looking games in the world despite coming out in 2007 for all the young kids who don't know what I'm talking about LOL

You are not really all over the place. I always feel like I got the information I needed from your videos.

Had mine 2 weeks, it's definitely not just for gaming. It rips through Lightroom Classic and Photoshop content, 10-20 seconds for LRC denoise compared to my 5 year old laptop's 15-20 minutes. Apart from some flickering during the process, 780M driver related, the performance is more than I currently require and that's not including the potential to add an eGPU.

This little box is amazing! I'm using one of those for a month now, and i'm impressed. In my case, it's a replacement for my big PC - an upgrade from Ryzen 5600G with Vega-7 graphics, that's 6 Zen3 cores and graphics that can barely handle GTA 5. Now - 8 Zen4 cores and 12CUs RDNA3 graphics - i can play Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p60-ish. In an ambient temperature of ~23°C, i'm getting ~83°C max. - the fan pleasantly silent, even at full bore - audible, but not unpleasantly. Fan noise for me, who doesn't use headphones, is not an issue. Power consumption is about half-ish to 2/3rds of my old big PC - running this box 24/7 is gonna save me quite a few Schmeckels in 2024. If you already have an SSD, get the barebones variant and buy fast RAM yourself - i'm running DDR5-5600 CL40 - i think their OEM RAM runs at CL44 - every little bit counts for the iGPU. Virtualisation is a breeze, with nice IOMMU group separation. I'm quite impressed!

dude that little Mini-PC looks awesome, I always did want a NUC style PC for myself but I haven't invested in one yet, maybe this device will do me well.

i just picked up the Beelink SER7, same exact hardware specs, except Beelink's Performance Mode jacks it up from 65W to 100W and, I am super impressed by this tiny computer! I'm sure their performance is comparable, I considered the 780 XTX & other tan some I/O they were more or less the same but the extra 30W in Perf mode sold me and I'm happy with my choice.

I got it last month, in part following your advice, and I'm not disappointed. I'm a traveller and I needed something light, and this thing is a godsend. It's really great for music production, all my VSTs that were CPU hogs on my previous laptop just work and load like it's nothing now, it's such a relief.
Regarding gaming, I'm not convinced of that boost efficiency, I can run BoTW at 30 FPS (not a problem for me), but I can't reach constant 60 FPS even using the 70W option and extending the VRAM to 8 GB. Using the 65W option, I can run all other games I tried on yuzu at 60 FPS though. PS3 emulation works very well too, I was able too play Wipeout HD Fury at 1080 with no FPS drops.

That company should hire someone for customer communication, I got to admit they scared me at some point in the shipping process (not saying why, probably not uncommon with Chinese companies)

Expecting mine later this week. I have not paid for Windows hardware since 2006, so fingers crossed I end up enjoying using the OS. The 780 XTX sure looks like it can deliver for needs even without an egpu.

I'd say if this is your go to pc for work that's very mobile and portable, even used with a 12inch portable monitor screen and have no plans to hook it up to a gpu I'd go with the 64gigs being its not that much more and you'd have plenty for the 780M and your system ram that can handle any programs and MS Office programs you throw at it.

a drawback is that the RGB is either on, or off. And if it's on, it's always cycling through Full Red, Full Green, Full Blue. If you know how to customize the RGB pattern let me know

Just ordered one based on your review, Logan. Can’t wait to try it out!

So I just returned this because of hardware issues. Was going to replace it with the same machine, but I think I will wait. That Tiger logo display thing is cool, but I suspect THIS will be the ONLY model that HAS it, since MINISFORUM has announced a newer model that will replace that logo display with a mini touch screen.

Minisforum compared with Lexus? Do you have any idea of the return & failure rate for Minisforum?!

Hiya, I mostly play warzone 3, Valorant, Minecraft, Roblox, games like that, and I have a 1080p 144hz monitor, would you recommend this pc for me? If not, which one do you recommend (that's in the same price range)
