Plz get hockey off of ESPN they clearly don’t care about it and us as a community deserve better coverage of it. I do not care about basketball and that’s all that espn seems interested in covering idk how espn can make the occasional 3 month post on instagram about the sport when their most popular personalities admit that they don’t know a thing about it. I'm not sure if many people realize how intertwined the NBA and NHL really are. The BAA (Basketball Association of America) was started in 1946 when the owner of the Boston Garden (Walter Brown) realized that ice hockey arenas were vacant most nights and he could host basketball games for more revenue. The BAA merged with the NBL (National Basketball League) in 1949 to create the NBA. Just a little tidbit of history :)

Newsflash, Stephen A Smith doesn’t watch much NBA or NFL either, I remember when he was breaking down chiefs vs chargers game in 2018 live on the air and he said the key matchup was Hunter Henry (Chargers tight end) vs Derick Johnson (Chiefs LB) Neither player had played a snap all season, Henry was ruled out for the season with a knee injury. Stephen A is like Colin Cowherd, they just have some intern write a cute little script for them and they go on TV and read it lol. The network pays them 5 million a year so they don’t care and they aren’t sitting around watching sports every night like you would think. Not even the one’s they pretend to like.

I like the automatic, reflexive reaction "OH PLEASE!" when Mad Dog (accurately) states that the NHL Playoffs in the early rounds are much more suspenseful than the NBA Playoffs. Then he proceeds to say he knows absolutely nothing about hockey.

You mean to tell me some people don't know about post season hockey? The fact that the Stanley cup is the biggest trophy in all of sports, and arguably, the toughest to win?!
The HITS, the FIGHTS, the GOALS, the SAVES..Literal blood, sweat and tears.
I love the NBA, I do. What's not to love ?
But post season...this is a bo brainer. HOCKEY all the way. Until an NBA player takes 20 stitches to the face and RETURNS 10 mins later, I'll take the hockey all spring long!! I would rather watch underpaid athletes destroy their bodies in a literal fight for a cup, than overpaid athletes sit out 3 weeks for "bruising." NBA just needs to get real tough in post season and their views will skyrocket!
