Daniel Goldstein, known by his stage name Lane 8, is an American DJ, producer, and musician whose distinctive sound bridges the realms of deep house, electronica, and emotive, melodic vibes. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Goldstein's journey into electronic music began with childhood experiences of making garage rock with his sibling. Inspired by the beats of hip-hop icons like Pete Rock and DJ Premier, he soon ventured into creating his own tracks. By 2012, Goldstein had honed a unique musical identity, drawing attention for his blend of pulsing electronica and glitch-pop, which caught the ear of Anjunadeep’s A&R executive, Jody Wisternoff.

Lane 8 signed with Anjunadeep in 2013, and in 2015, he released his debut studio album, *Rise*, to critical acclaim. The album, which featured vocal contributions from artists such as Solomon Grey and Patrick Baker, included the breakout single “Ghost,” and solidified Lane 8 as an artist to watch. In addition to his label releases, Lane 8 has been known for his dedication to the immersive experience of live shows. His *This Never Happened* initiative, which began as part of his Little by Little tour in 2016, banned the use of phones and cameras at shows, promoting a deeper connection between the artist and the audience.

In 2016, Lane 8 also founded his independent label, This Never Happened, as a platform to release his music and support emerging talents within the deep house scene. The label expanded with the Root to Branch series, showcasing fresh music and supporting touring artists. Lane 8’s other albums include Little by Little (2018), Brightest Light (2020), and Reviver (2022), each marked by his signature combination of introspective melodies, emotional depth, and electronic beats.

In 2024, Lane 8 released his fifth studio album, Childish, featuring collaborations with artists like Arctic Lake, Art School Girlfriend, and Sultan + Shepard. The album cover, depicting art created by his daughter, reflects a departure from his past work, which often featured natural and symmetrical elements. Goldstein shared that *Childish* was inspired by the free-spirited creativity of his children and his own childhood, emphasizing the joy and confidence found in unfiltered self-expression. This thematic shift highlights Lane 8's continual evolution as an artist, blending personal experiences with his innovative approach to electronic music.
